Is it true that Scottish students are not allowed to go home for weekends etc as it counts as mixing households?

Before we even move on to MHs dastardly plan to keep them all in halls over Christmas.
I know there is the option to detain people under the Coronavirus act if they are believed to be infectious, but these students are mostly not.
What would happen if an ill studeng tried to return home to parents? Fines? Or seen as reasonable and overlooked?

Yes Charley. I agree with every word.

Why not ban over 60s from restaurants and pubs? Overweight people? The vulnerable? Can you imagine the outcry?

Treesofwood · 25/09/2020 09:06

Newgirls Imagine the lives that could be saved of that was introduced.

Well quite 🤷‍♀️ it’s all very strange

I think you should all write to the United Nations.

YardleyX · 25/09/2020 11:28

Totally agree with, Charley.

I hope many many people are writing to Nicola, and I hope she will lose votes on this.

What a way to behave.

YardleyX · 25/09/2020 11:29

I’m furious, and I don’t even currently have a student in my family!

It is disgraceful. I had arranged to take my 17 year old, first time left home, out for lunch at a cafe this weekend to check in on them. Not allowed. Frankly, I am going to take a Dominic Cummings approach to this guidance because it stinks.

It's also unlawful and legally unenforceable. I am very much inclined to ignore it.

And I am the kind of person who follows all the rules, even the ones that make no sense. And I have been extremely careful - like waiting three weeks before going to see my pregnant niece after meeting friends from all over the UK (when that was allowed I might add), just to be on the safe side.

TheNavigator · 25/09/2020 12:32

I have followed all the stupid rules - I am a compliant person. If this is pushing me to ignore a rule it just shows how damn unreasonable it is. You cannot treat one section of society in this way, particularly at a uniquely vulnerable time for them.
