@TinySleepThief
I think if we all buckle down - social distance, masks and hand washing - and get on with it then 6 months will be the max.
Sadly I think this is naive. I think all the restrictions are going to do is delay the pandemic further and in 6 months even if everyone followed the rules to the letter it will still increase exponentially when we all start reducing restrictions.
I agree
TinySleepThief - what the past 6 month have shown is that a total lockdown can get numbers right down and as soon as the brakes come off even a bit then cases rise. So now we are putting the brakes on again - and numbers will come down, but then we will have to, at some point, take them off again, and guess what will happen. People are saying it will be April, it will be better, but to be honest I just don't believe that.
I'm in Scotland and NS is saying she's going harder so hopefully the restrictions don't have to last as long - but if she stops them earlier, guess what will happen.
And yes, by next Spring we MIGHT have a working vaccine - but even if they focus on vaccinating only the vulnerable and older people so that everyone else can get on with things, that will still take months to do.
So it's going to be on and off with restrictions for at least another 6/8 months I think - which means no ability to plan for ANYTHING as you can't know if the restrictions will be on or off. And having literally nothing to look forward to as I sit in my house for the forseeable future working and not interacting with anyone outside the home, other than possibly meeting 2 other people (as we are a family of 4) in a cafe or restaurant, or for a walk, for month and months on end is beginning to have more than a little impact on my mental health.
