Would you go on holiday abroad for the weekend this Friday?
Would you judge someone who was?
No children going for context.
Destination country is not on quarantine list.

My parents are going to Venice next week for a long weekend. No judgement here.

fabulous01 · 22/09/2020 20:54

If I could do the self isolation in case the rules change... I absolutely would.

Pickagoddamnname · 22/09/2020 21:53

I’d love to so no judgement here

123456kent · 22/09/2020 23:13

Also considering this, with children. Is it worse (morally) to consider doing this with children then....
In 2 minds.

Fantasisa · 22/09/2020 23:14

Go and have a lovely time. This has taught me that life is for living.

Legoandloldolls · 22/09/2020 23:15

I wouldnt judge tbh. Life is about to get even more unbearably shit so enjoy life while you can.

If no rules are broken then why should anyone judge?

whiteroseredrose · 22/09/2020 23:16

I would, assuming it's not against foreign office advice.

LilyPond2 · 22/09/2020 23:20

No, I wouldn't judge someone for that (assuming they complied properly with any requirement to wear a mask while travelling).

whiteroseredrose · 22/09/2020 23:23

Where too? Make me jealous!

Esspee · 22/09/2020 23:27

I couldn't wear a mask for extended periods and am unsure whether the recirculated air in an aircraft is safe so I wouldn't go and would be keeping well away from anyone who had been taking risks like that. Most certainly not worth it for just a few days.

LocalLockdowner · 22/09/2020 23:31

Are you in a local lockdown area? Because if so you shouldn't be leaving the area.

If not go whilst you can but please don't moan if by the time you get home you need to self isolate for 14 days. Nothing is a given and everything can change in a day with Covid with no prior notice.

daisydalrymple · 22/09/2020 23:36

I wouldn’t want to step foot in an airport, or on an aeroplane at the moment personally. I wouldn’t judge anybody for choosing to do so, that’s your choice after weighing up the risks. But equally for my own safety I wouldn’t want to spend time with someone who’d just come home from abroad either until two weeks had passed, just incase someone abroad or on the flight had passed the virus on.

ceeveebee · 22/09/2020 23:39

That isn’t in the rules for local lockdown areas other than in Wales?
Enrosadira · 22/09/2020 23:41

Go and no judgement here.

Enrosadira · 22/09/2020 23:42

Airports and planes were better than many places I have visited here, certainly not worse.

greenlynx · 22/09/2020 23:42

I wouldn’t travel myself and yes, I would judge you as I feel we need to avoid non essential travel abroad atm.

TippledPink · 22/09/2020 23:44

Go and enjoy! No judgement here. I went to Gran Canaria 7 weeks ago with my kids and we quarantined when I got home. Despite them having substantially less cases than the UK...

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/09/2020 05:40

I would not judge providing they quarantine if the country is on the list.

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 23/09/2020 06:44

Yes as long as all the laws are followed

Dotinthecity · 23/09/2020 06:46

I'd go without a second thought. Have a lovely time!

CovidPostingName · 23/09/2020 08:06

I wouldn't go and tbh I probably would raise an eyebrow at someone willing to put themselves at that level of exposure and bring that risk factor back to their wider family and workplace. Nowhere is 'safe', that's a false concept in a world with international travel.

Stellaris22 · 23/09/2020 08:17

I'll be honest and say yes, I would question it.

For a few days with the risk involved and the likelihood that most people won't self isolate make it completely unnecessary.

It's not just about you and having a holiday, it's the risk of taking the virus with you or bringing it back. But I'm of the opinion that non essential air travel should be completely banned during a pandemic.

PimlicoJo · 23/09/2020 08:30

My friend is going on Friday for 2 weeks. No kids, country with no quarantine needed, booked last year. Why would I judge? I hope she has a great time.

She'd also lose all the money she's paid if they cancel. That would be madness. Enjoy a bit of sun before what looks like a bleak winter.

middleager · 23/09/2020 08:34

I wouldn't go (fear of getting stuck and quarantine) but I wouldn't judge as I don't see the difference between going abroad or holidaying in the UK.

middleager · 23/09/2020 08:36

It's not just about you and having a holiday, it's the risk of taking the virus with you or bringing it back.

Surely you could say that about going anywhere though?
