Will we be clapping for the NHS again on Thursdays?

Is everyone dusting off their pots and pans in preparation?

No

@user1497873278

Yay others that think like me, I have deep respect for the nhs but feel that they need pay rises and safe working conditions not pathetic clapping
Agreed.
MNnicknameforCVthreads · 22/09/2020 12:18

No it served a purpose for a time. Now the government need to put its money where it mouth is and invest heavily in nhs (and other public services).

BlueJava · 22/09/2020 12:19

Didn't clap first time, won't be clapping now.

PaddyF0dder · 22/09/2020 12:20

My wife and I are NHS workers.

Didn’t do it then. Won’t do it next time.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 22/09/2020 12:21

We always forgot (aka couldn't be arsed).

Standout memory for me was the time I was in the garden trying to manually evacuate Ddog's anal glands when the entire street erupted in cheers and clapping just as I slid a lubed gloved finger up her arse. Both dog and I were thoroughly traumatised.

CoronaBollox · 22/09/2020 12:22

I never stopped. How else will people know I'm a good person. I've been waiting months for everyone to come back out tut tut, writing lists of which neighbour clearly hates the NHS.

I've pre booked a bouncy castle this time. Bounce for the NHS.

Brunt0n · 22/09/2020 12:24

No it was ridiculous enough the first time

MadameBlobby · 22/09/2020 12:26

Didn’t do it last time
Won’t do it next time if there is one

PopsicleHustler · 22/09/2020 12:27

No thanks. It's a bit cringe.
Absolutely love and support the NHS and wish they have a better pay, mind you

Scweltish · 22/09/2020 12:28

I think we’re over that now

SaltyAndFresh · 22/09/2020 12:32

If nothing else, at least there was a supportive community vibe to it, no matter how superficial. I think this time, with so much division and hostility, the tone of any lockdown will be quite different.

GabsAlot · 22/09/2020 12:50

no thats ok and they dont want it anyway

FourPlasticRings · 22/09/2020 12:52

@GoldenOmber

Oh please no.
This. With bells on. But only small bells. In the house. Not out on the street with megaphones.
herecomesthsun · 22/09/2020 12:53

NHS all my working life and please no.

RegularHumanBartender · 22/09/2020 12:54

Not even if I was paid to do it.

PotholePalace · 22/09/2020 12:54

Please God no. Some people felt that by clapping they'd 'given' to the NHS.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 22/09/2020 12:57

Why? I thought it was pointless the first time. Why would people start again?

Funkypolar · 22/09/2020 12:58

No more dancing nurses on Tik Tok please either.

RedToothBrush · 22/09/2020 13:01

@Jrobhatch29

I have to admit I was in hospital one of the Thursdays after just having had my baby. I could see all the staff outside from my window and have to admit that was quite emotional. Other than that I hated it. I actually think one of my neighbours was taking a register
One our neighbours made a point of saying "Oh I haven't seen you out doing the clap, why haven't you been?"

That would be because our close friends and family who work for the NHS hated it, we thought it was bullshit propaganda and our son has his bedtime at 7pm and he has the bedroom above the front door.

Bellend.

espressoontap · 22/09/2020 13:04

I work for the NHS - please don't. It didn't achieve anything and was more of a nuisance, I know I'm miserable...

madcatladyforever · 22/09/2020 13:05

Oh fucking hell please no, I looked after covid patients last time and it was excruciating having neighbours clap under my window every Thursday.

QueenOllie · 22/09/2020 13:09

My cat misses it. He thinks it was for him and used to parade around the garden then sit on the windowsill preening

espressoontap · 22/09/2020 13:11

Urgh, same. When they started banging saucepans and ringing bells I was furious. Thank god the nights are drawing in.

SockYarn · 22/09/2020 13:12

No, we absolutely will not.
