If you don’t believe we need tighter restrictions now, will you vaccinate yourself and your kids?

Just that really.
Based on a FB comment from a covid conspiracy family member. Who will, apparently be living her best ( normal) life because the vaccine will be ready in six months.

Is this a unique thought process?

@hamstersarse

My family are in no way at risk from this virus. I would not vaccinate my children or myself.

I am sure there are more people who would need it ahead of us.

How on earth could you know that?
Alex50 · 21/09/2020 15:40

Will the vaccine stop you getting it or just stop you from being ill from it? So you could still be a carrier? If that’s the case most healthy young people already carry it with no ill effects so why would they need a vaccine?

Ontheroadtorecovery · 21/09/2020 15:44

I wouldn't want my children to have this vaccine because it will have been developed in a rush and there is no way of knowing what implications it may have ie side effects etc. But I'm not anti vax generally. That may be selfish but it's because I would be worried 😕

Ontheroadtorecovery · 21/09/2020 15:46

The restrictions though maybe they are needed but I would like school to still be open as I believe ds has missed enough already and I'm not good at motivating him to learn I worry about the long term impact on ds

Do all those who proclaim that a vaccine for Covid 19 will have been rushed through research the development of other vaccines they or their family have?

I'm amazed at the number of people who appear to now be experts in the development timeline of vaccinations enough to completely discount having one.

We don't even know which vaccine will be rolled, to whom, what effect it will have but already its completely discounted. A sensible answer would be that the ordinary person doesn't have enough information to make that decision. That when the time comes, they will carefully research the vaccine and listen to EXPERTS in this area in order to make a decision.

Personally I am very keen to have a vaccine. I will research to understand it but I do not believe that a vaccine will be rolled out to the general public without the appropriate stages being progressed through.

Let's face it, if the government was going to roll out an improperly tested vaccine we'd be having it now, not being told that hopefully we will have one soon.

Yes, I do. I wouldn’t inject anything into myself or my children that I hadn’t fully researched.
I will do the same with the Covid vaccine.

SoUtterlyGroundDown · 21/09/2020 20:15

Do you research the vaccines you allow to be infected into your children @emmskie03?

majesticallyawkward · 21/09/2020 20:46

That's weird. Most Covid conspiracy theorists are vehemently anti vax. Most of them think the vaccine with its nanochip ready for insertion into us is Bill Gates' end goal in this huge 'hoax'.

@BlueBlancmange don't forget that 'they' are using 5g to spread Covid. It's all the big plan of the mysterious 'they' to get those bill gates chips in to us all!

In response to the OP, yes i probably would/will vaccinate when a suitable and proven vaccine is available.
My DGM is one of those who refuse the flu jab because it 'makes you ill' while being useless and a waste of time. She got flu last year and we thought it would kill her, she was ill for at least 6 weeks, even she thought she wouldn't get through it. We're headed into flu jab time again and she's still claiming it's 'useless'... she also doesn't believe in Covid (even with her doctor grandson telling her it's very real and to take it seriously at 87 with 3 different medical conditions putting her in the shielding group!). there are some who just won't listen no matter what.

bigchoc* not justifiable as the elderly have a lot less to lose.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 23/09/2020 08:53

I've said all along it will depend on who develops the vaccine. If the Oxford one is successful then I will probably have it, if it's from Russia or China then definitely not until more is known.
