Would you book a holiday for October half term?

We were thinking about a cottage somewhere, driving there. But looks like there might be a lockdown? Are others planning a ‘staycation’ half term?

A couple of weeks ago, we were talking about booking a cottage or city break for October half term. Not any more though, seems unlikely to be possible. We are both going to book annual leave and set up some fun stuff to do at home, in the local area if we can.

I've taken it as annual leave but not booking anything, it'll be local days out for us if I can prise the teenagers out of their pits

I'd love to go away, even for a weekend but I just don't think it's worth it Sad

I booked a load of hotels and theme parks about a month ago. The kids know we probably won’t be going, but the hotels were all pay on arrival so they can be cancelled and the theme park tickets can be moved to next year. I wouldn’t have booked now though. A self catering cottage is different though but I guess if restrictions mean our trip can’t go ahead then I don’t think any travel will be.

I wouldn't book anything at the mo until things are much clearer. Whenever that might be.

I'm taking a wait and see approach. If there isn't a national lockdown then I will book somewhere very last minute, like 2 days before going.

We have friends who jetted off to Greece for 3 weeks yesterday, and I am green!

We have had a couple of weekends away in the UK, but we had three big holidays cancelled by Covid and so we had decided on late September/early October.

We could just go and then self isolate as our friends have done, but I am really not sure if we will.

We went ahead with summer plans and had 3 blissful weeks in southern Germany / Italy so we feel we have used up our lives for 2020. So glad we just went ahead as things getting worse not better still have post holiday high .

Aaaarghhh! I'm so tired of people going on 'staycations' when they're actually going on holiday HmmHmm
The clue is in the word, 'stay' as in stay at home. Ffs.....

And no op, I personally wouldn't bother booking a uk holiday.

We've just cancelled our week away (abroad)

At this stage, not sure we'll even manage a day trip to London. . .

I won’t as I know I’ll be gutted if I have to cancel. If the weather looks nice and things are Ok I may and try and book a few nights, just in the next county along from us at the last minute.

Looking to book the night before if possible. If not then a relaxing week at home.

We are going away in our caravan the week before half term which will no doubt be in lockdown time, we can easily move it though with no loss of money. I probably wouldn’t book if it couldn’t be moved or cancelled, depends really if you could go another week instead if needs be

What does everyone think of caravan parks either this or next month?

Report
MushMonster · 19/09/2020 20:40

No we are not planning or booking anything this year as it all changes suddenly

I'd like to go to Devon for a few nights but won't book anything yet, I can't face having to reschedule something. We'll book something last minute if it's possible.

I am CLIMBING THE WALLS!! we usually go camping two/three times a year but we havent been. We decided on a lodge in October half term but have decided not to.

Ive had a fucking awful year, one thing after another, some caused by amd some exacerbated by covid.

I need my "and breathe" moment.

Next year..... maybe
