Not sure whether to brave it or not...
What with the whole coronavirus..
I'm looking at a coach trip in October half term for a visit somewhere on Saturday, stay at hotel overnight and visit in Sunday then come back on coach
Would you do this?

No absolutely not at the moment.

Londongirl888 · 18/09/2020 23:24

Errr No!! Maybe spring?

wannabebump · 18/09/2020 23:25

No!

TheoriginalLEM · 18/09/2020 23:26

Nope

FusionChefGeoff · 18/09/2020 23:27

Realistically, the greatest risk of transmission by far is airborne particles breathed out by an asymptomatic carrier.

The absolutely worst thing you can do would be to sit in a very small box with 50 other people for several hours Shock

marvellousmud · 18/09/2020 23:31

I'd probably prefer to take the train if it's an option, I always find coaches feel more claustrophobic and closed in, it feels like the air circulation is better on a train. I've taken the train for day trips this week and it's been practically empty so I wouldn't be concerned about catching anything.

But at the moment I'd be concerned about making a booking and then things getting locked down, and not being able to get my money back.

Jumbojem · 18/09/2020 23:48

No! Source of an outbreak in Wales was down to a coach trip. Ok, they went to some pubs too but, it spread amongst those in the trip. I'm very nervous of being indoors with a group of people.

purpleme12 · 18/09/2020 23:48

Ah right
More people than I thought would say no...

I have done a coach trip and a train trip like 10 times in the last 2 months. Ignore the pearl clutchers op, you'll be fine. Have fun

littlemsattitude · 19/09/2020 03:21

No chance.

Treesofwood · 19/09/2020 04:19

Fusionchefgeoff Do you have children at school?

ragged · 19/09/2020 04:43

yes I would but I suspect it will be cancelled anyway, OP

BlackberrySky · 19/09/2020 05:06

Do you know if there is reduced capacity on the coach? If so then go.

Pepperama · 19/09/2020 05:11

No way - avoiding spending time with people indoors, certainly would not go into confined space for lengthy periods. Distancing would make little difference in that situation, unlike when you just briefly walk past someone infectious in a shop

daytripper28 · 19/09/2020 05:28

No - I wouldn't at the moment.

I guess you didn't see the news last night. Numbers are up significantly and there is talk of another national lockdown.

Inkpaperstars · 19/09/2020 05:36

No, it's a poorly ventilated indoor space.

Racoonworld · 19/09/2020 05:43

No, I’m surprised this is allowed actually with all the other restrictions around. And we are likely to be in lockdown during October half term

Dotinthecity · 19/09/2020 05:53

Yes, I would.

purpleme12 · 19/09/2020 08:35

Ok some people would. Interesting
Yes it is reduced capacity there's seats left between you
And masks but obviously that's dependant on people wearing them....

Would people who wouldn't go, go on trains,?

OP posts:
ClashCityRocker · 19/09/2020 08:41

If it was leaving right now I'd probably consider it, but would err on not wanting to go.

By October if things carry on the way they are almost definitely not.

If the local busses are anything to by, people get on wearing masks and then they're pulled either below the nose or under the chin to chat - I would imagine on a longer trip you'd see a lot of this.

AriettyHomily · 19/09/2020 08:41

We'll be in lockdown by then. I wouldn't plan anything but if I had to, the train would be preferable.

LadyPenelope68 · 19/09/2020 08:42

Absolutely no way.

AuntieStella · 19/09/2020 08:44

No - to both train and coach options

I'm using public transport only for essentials for now. And the only time I travel longer distances right now is to visit my DMum and I drive there

I suspect that excursions (such as your planned one) will not be permitted if there is a mid/late October lockdown timed to coincide with the main half term weeks.

AliciaWhiskers · 19/09/2020 08:45

No, to either coach or train.

HeddaGarbled · 19/09/2020 08:46

Absolutely not.
