Would you go on a coach trip?

Not sure whether to brave it or not...
What with the whole coronavirus..
I'm looking at a coach trip in October half term for a visit somewhere on Saturday, stay at hotel overnight and visit in Sunday then come back on coach
Would you do this?

No, no way.
The outbreak in Rhondda Taf was accelerated due to a coach trip stopping off at a number of pubs en route 😳🙄

Stinkyguineapig · 19/09/2020 08:48

I probably wouldnt. I use the train together to work every day but luckily I travel off peak and mostly it's not busy.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 19/09/2020 09:43

No, definitely not nor train. Too many people, confined space and for a length of time does not appeal.

wannabebump · 19/09/2020 09:44

I wouldn't go on a train either. Sorry OP.

I know it's desperate to want some normality but with the increase in cases etc, it's not going to happen yet

LouiseNW · 19/09/2020 09:44

Good grief, no.

Lucindainthesky · 19/09/2020 09:57

One of the riskiest things you could do right now.

Itsabeautifuldayheyhey · 19/09/2020 11:05

Absolutely not.

Pelleas · 19/09/2020 11:09

No.

I wouldn't go on any form of shared private or public transport at the moment unless it was an emergency.

purpleme12 · 19/09/2020 11:18

I don't drive. Thankfully I can walk into town so I'm not rural.
But to actually go on days out you'd need to use public transport

OP posts:
U8myufo · 19/09/2020 12:07

I wouldn't go on one at the moment. It's a small poorly ventilated space at the end of the day.

Sometimes I feel like I am living in a parallel universe.
purpleme12 · 19/09/2020 12:15

@CraftyGin why? I am allowed to ask this
And it is obviously allowed to go on coach trips

I haven't decided yet if I will or not but everyone's different

OP posts:
Waxonwaxoff0 · 19/09/2020 12:16

I would. But I can't drive so I've been using buses and trains throughout anyway.

halcyondays · 19/09/2020 12:17

No, I wouldn’t go on any kind of public transport unless I really had to.

CuppaZa · 19/09/2020 12:17

No

Stinkyguineapig · 19/09/2020 12:37

Lots of definitely nos to trains as well...presumably you dont need public transport to get to work.

I wouldn't go on a train for a non essential trip but its the only feasible form of transport to get to work. And I am fortunate that I have a car that I can use for other journeys- not everyone has the luxury of choice . (Although the OP , I think, is describing a month essential journey)

Stinkyguineapig · 19/09/2020 12:37

non essential

Egghead68 · 19/09/2020 12:40

No

Jilljams · 19/09/2020 12:41

No, I wouldn’t be planning any non essential trips for the autumn/winter.

BikeTyson · 19/09/2020 12:41

I’d currently go on a train, depending on how long the journey was. Probably would dodge the coach because I’d assume that would be slower and therefore would involve more time in closer proximity to people. Also trains are really empty right now.

I’m taking public transport most days at the moment because it’s essential for me, and it’s not as terrifying as is being made out.

However, I’m not sure I’d plan as far in advance as October HT because things could look very different by then.

SoManyActivities · 19/09/2020 12:43

No, I am fairly relaxed about Covid but I wouldn't do this. Apart from anything else you would have to wear a mask on a stuffy coach for hours which wouldn't be very enjoyable!

Pebblexox · 19/09/2020 12:45

If it was tomorrow, I'd say yes. However I won't be booking anything for October as there is a big chance we'll be going into lockdown for a couple of weeks and I can't be bothered faffing with dealing with cancellations and refunds.

notso · 19/09/2020 12:47

What would be the implications for you if you caught the virus or someone who was on the coach did meaning you had to isolate?
The potential upheaval would put me off plus I hate coach trips!

AmelieTaylor · 19/09/2020 12:50

No. A small confined space with other people. A lot of people won't wear masks for the duration of the trip and many people are using aren't 'fit for purpose' anyway and are not worn properly.

There's nothing I want to do 'enough' that I'm prepared to spend hours & hours on public transport.

If I had to use PT for work, I would, but the difference is, it's much shorter journeys & I could get off at the next stop if it got too busy. And obviously, it's work not leisure.

FusionChefGeoff · 19/09/2020 12:53

@Treesofwood yes I do.

It's a risk vs benefit analysis. I personally think children have to be in school for many many reasons..

OP does not have to go on a leisure coach trip.

I would give a different answer if the trio was commuting to work or to visit a sick relative etc as the benefit would outweigh the risk.

But if she doesn't have to go, the risk isn't worth it.
