" a vacancy at the heart of the UK"

so says Mark Drayford the first minister of Wales.

A chilling and sad phrase, in my opinion. I feel absolutely desperate today. Does anybody believe Mr J and his government have anythin gto offer at all?

I agree orangejuicer. I think they have both done their best to look after the people of Wales. Johnson and Cummings have done their best to look after themselves and the rest of the elite.

HMSSophie · 18/09/2020 18:06

Hear, hear, OP. A bigger bunch of collective fuckwits there has never been.

TheLastStarfighter · 18/09/2020 18:08

I couldn’t believe it when he got elected.

I wept when the US elected Trump. I was beyond that when UK elected BJ. I think that was the moment when I lost faith in human nature.

PennyDreadfuI · 18/09/2020 18:12
@PennyDreadfuI, what the hell was going on in Sunderland?
It was all about Brexit. Boz said he'd 'get Brexit done' and that was all that mattered. Ditto Blyth, County Durham, etc...

randomer · 18/09/2020 18:21

But I love the NE and the people there, how on earth were they bewitched by this collective madness? Get Brexit Done. I suppose they genuinely believed Mr J was " on their side". That and hordes of immigrants coming ere takin our jobs.

OP posts:
TheFlyingStork · 18/09/2020 18:35

Agree entirely OP. I was only thinking yesterday that this must be not only the worst government in living memory, but probably of at least the last 120 years.

Even considering the PMs and governments with lamentable records, like Eden, Callaghan, Chamberlain, this shower stand out. All those other governments got some things right. You just can’t say that about Boj and his crew. They’re fucking everything up - Covid, Brexit, education, half the bridges in London are either shut or about to be.

I could go on, but what would be the point? I literally cannot think of a single thing this government has done where I could feel happy they’d done even a reasonable job, in the circumstances.

And they’re in power at a time of crisis the magnitude of which we haven’t seen since WW2.

It’s frightening.

randomer · 18/09/2020 18:56

@TheFlyingStork, I feel less alone now. The lamentable governments you mention possibly had some decent people there, some morality and integrity somewhere? I look back ( not that far back) and people I thought were awful are like demi Gods now.

I felt utter contempt for JRM when he complained about people "carping" about not getting tests.

FGS these people have literally no idea what normal people are going through and the struggles they are having. I've no idea if JRM paid for a private test for one of his 6 kids (who obviously would have had a negative result as JRM is no longer self isolating) but he wont have to worry about paying the mortgage or putting food on the table while he isolates for days waiting for both a test apt or the result.

randomer · 18/09/2020 19:09

I wonder if this is the seed of the whole hideous debacle, the playing fields of Eton, the Old Boys from the proper schools where there was no room for kindness and empathy. They are all abusers and/or abused. BJ, the ultimate narc, everybodys friend. Moved 10 times in 8 years, mother largely absent, father devoid of morality.

What had Dom got on out PM? What ghastly thing does he know?

TheLastStarfighter · 18/09/2020 19:23

I don’t think it’s that. I think DC is BJ’s father figure.

TheFlyingStork · 18/09/2020 19:34

Exactly! Never thought I’d feel like this.

Totally agree about feeling nothing but disdain for JRM and his ‘carping’ whinge. Completely shows him up for being totall out of touch, not that he’ll care.

randomer · 18/09/2020 20:57

Out of touch? He was never in touch....the man is a cariacture.

@randomer

FFS @ Hestershaw, it was a momentary lapse in concentration. My family are Scottish. Built ships at Clydebank if that helps.
Sorry. It was unnecessary. I apologise.
randomer · 18/09/2020 21:08

Ah a rare and wonderous thing, gladly accepted.

Hands up all those who voted Tory. Hello? Where have you gone? We have those people to thank anyway.

randomer · 18/09/2020 21:20

or anybody who voted Tory and is now bitterly disappointed? It happens.

I think the vacancy is the brain cells in Boris Johnson’s head that were destroyed by the virus.

Sacados · 18/09/2020 21:26

I looked at all the former Prime Ministers who came out to say that the UK should not be breaking international law, and I thought... holy fuck, they were all SO MUCH BETTER than what we've got at the moment. All of them! Even the really shit ones! There literally wasn't one of them who wouldn't be making a better job of the current situation.

Ginnymweasley · 18/09/2020 21:28

Drakeford has been a lot more cautious in his approach. Living in Wales I can honestly say that although he has the most boring voice in the world he does seem competent. Or at least compared to johnson et al. The govt response has been a shit show tbh.
This comment btw was in regard to the lack of communication between uk govt and devolved govt.

PinkMacaron · 18/09/2020 21:31

Every time I see John Major or Gordon Brown on TV it makes me realise how far we've sunk. Johnson makes them look like political titans.

Hopefully67 · 18/09/2020 21:32

Even the shit ones...! Yep!

I keep waiting for the adults to turn up

randomer · 18/09/2020 21:33

Brown and Major had mutual respect.

OP posts:
TheFlyingStork · 18/09/2020 21:35

Yep, I remember the Major government well, he certainly wasn’t regarded as any great statesman at the time, and was a one term wonder. But put him alongside Boris and he looks like a latter day Churchill.

What the actual fuck is so wrong with our political system that it enables incompetent narcissists to climb so high and then fuck the country over?

randomer · 18/09/2020 21:41

A quick goodle tells me Mr Drayford is bilingual and has had several demanding and interesting jobs.........somebody remind me of Mr J and his much lauded lingusitic skills and work record please?

OP posts:
Eve · 18/09/2020 21:44

even the Times is asking questions
