I speak for everyone but I’m so bloody sick of this now. Covid this, covid that all the bloody time.

Now Chris Whitty is saying we should have another national lockdown. Yes the numbers seem to be getting out of control but for crying out loud, people’s mental health is going to be worsened and god knows what that’ll do to the economy, as if the first lockdown wasn’t bad enough!!

I sincerely hope 2021 is a far more pleasant year. Right now it feels like this will never end and we’ll just be stuck in an endless coronavirus cycle forever.

6 months of this crap is enough. God it’s so frustrating

No I don't think it will end but I think we will learn to be pragmatic and learn to live with it. There are better ways of treating it now available and the risks for the under 60s who are fit and healthy are infinitesimal. We are also wiser to masks and handwashing. Pubs closed at 11pm until I was early 30s. Not a problem

Even at 6000 cases per day, that's a low incidence compared to 66,000,000 people.

jimmyhill · 18/09/2020 00:18

The furlough scheme comes to an end in October. There won’t be another one.

It could be extended or reopened at essentially any time. You've never heard of a government U-turn?

caringcarer · 18/09/2020 00:19

I just wish they would hurry up with vaccine. Then we can go back to normal.

MadameBlobby · 18/09/2020 00:24

YANBU and I wish Chris Whitty would fuck off as well.

Sunshine1235 · 18/09/2020 01:40

I fell the same. We can’t see my parents any more because there are five of us and they live far away so would normally stay with us. I can’t have play dates anymore because all my friends have two kids and I have three. Feels a bit like lockdown again already. Yes I know I could go out and socialise by myself but I have a young baby and day to day is when I struggle with not seeing people. It feels like it will go on forever and nothing will be normal again. Meanwhile my children will have an early childhood without seeing other children or their family and grandparents

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 18/09/2020 02:57

@Sunshine1235 i just feel so desperately sad .

I feel like me & our 2 DC are missing out on precious time with my parents.

They wont be around forever, i miss spending time as a family & I cannot see an end to this.

HardJustGotHarder · 18/09/2020 03:00

Theres a awfully sad thread on here tonight from frontline workers....

Covid is going no where

Inkpaperstars · 18/09/2020 03:01

I’m not saying there shouldn’t be any restrictions, there should be, but they should only be in the areas with extremely high numbers

Everywhere then, given that anywhere with low numbers and no restrictions will quickly become a place with extremely high numbers.

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 18/09/2020 03:05

@HardJustGotHarder im one of the NHSers. It literally gives me sleepless nights.

@Heyahun

It’s not going anywhere you need to find something to do with your time, stop watching the news and reading about it so much.

I haven’t seen my parents since January as they live in a different country a it’s crap but what can you do! It will eventually be possible but for now you just have to get on with it.

Am actually getting more fed up of so many people banging on about it and how unfair it is to be honest 😂

You don't have to read posts from us moaners. We are entitled to our feelings.

I agree with OP.

If there is another lockdown I will this time be much less compliant with instructions not to visit my elderly parents. They are in their mid eighties and have mounting health problems which meant that they very nearly didn't make it through the first lockdown alive. I really feared at one point that I had missed my last ever chance to spend time with them and yes, even to say goodbye. It is not a groundless fear and isn't a risk that I will willingly take again. The only answer will be non-compliance.

On top of that, I was also made redundant during the first lockdown.

Carry on crying with laughter at that if you want to. Clearly you are having a much easier time of it than many of us right now. You need to hope that continues.

VickySunshine · 18/09/2020 04:34

That’s why we need a vaccine.

@bumblingbovine49 i had a very similar experience first time round, which has left me mentally shot.

I agree that for some they are sailing through this, while others are shipwrecked in the middle of a storm.

Cripesitsthegasman19 · 18/09/2020 09:53

I'm not leaving my Mum on her own for months again. Think it would destroy her.

felineflutter · 18/09/2020 09:57

I love this - who are they!? Fancy doing a quick degree and putting on a lab coat!

Delatron · 18/09/2020 10:09

I think if I was in my 80s, and I wasn’t sure how much longer I had left and I was told not to see my family, my grandchildren (who change so much) for a year (as it looks like this will go on and on) then I think I’d ignore the rules/law whatever.

Life is precious, time is precious. Continual lockdowns and stopping people seeing their families for months and months cannot be a long term strategy. People won’t comply.

mummabear1967 · 18/09/2020 10:17

@bumblingbovine49 @Heyahun you two are fed up listening to people moan but yet here you are on a Coronavirus thread Grin Grin

We have at least another year of this. Did you really think it would all be over by now?

No no no I can't do this for another year, my mental health is suffering as it is, please stop scaremongering.

Any links to people that actually know what they're talking about saying this?

Nobody ever said it would be over now, simply just saying we are fed up!
