Want to Calculate your Covid age?

Apologies if there is already a thread for this, I checked the Covid topic list of thread titles but couldn't see one.

Calculate your Covid Age here

This table starts with your actual age and then adds (or subtracts) years according to your particular vulnerabilities, which gives you a "Covid Age". So if you are actually 35 but have a Covid age of 75, you should be treated as having the same vulnerability as an otherwise-healthy 75 year old. Scrolling down the page further it then gives estimated risk and fatality rates for the covid age you come up with.

I found this useful.

34, Covid age of at least 83 😕

That's depressing.

NervousInYorkshire · 17/09/2020 15:32

41, covid age of 61.

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 17/09/2020 15:34

I feel almost youthful, 57 down from 62

TheOrigRightsofwomen · 17/09/2020 15:36

My covid age is my actual age.
-5 for being female
+5 for being mixed race

PlateTectonics · 17/09/2020 15:38

I'm a woman and none of the other factors apply, so my covid age is 5 years lower than my actual age.

feelingverylazytoday · 17/09/2020 15:38

I'm 60. My covid age is 55 - 60. I say that because I haven't checked my BP for a few years so can't be sure if it's high or not. Quite pleased to have no underlying conditions at my age.

CovidThrowaway · 17/09/2020 15:38

33, Covid age of 50. Slightly worrying.

PaperMonster · 17/09/2020 15:42

I’m 51 and my Covid age is 62 due to T2D which is diet controlled, so my HBA1C is not in the diabetic range.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 17/09/2020 15:43

71 for me. I'm 50. I was in the shielded group though.

starfish4 · 17/09/2020 15:47

I'm 53 and my covid age is 48, so that sounds good. However, I'm still aware that I'm prone to pneumonia and can be very ill with it.

TheDogsMother · 17/09/2020 15:55

-5 for being female, +1 mild asthma. Still 53 though

mosscarpet · 17/09/2020 15:56

@Spreadingcomfrey

I can't look at the table properly on my ancient device. Does it assess your general level of fitness anywhere like "can you walk briskly for a mile" ? Surely your basic general daily activity and fitness levels are significant when calculating this? Or maybe not the way they have set it up? Does anyone know?
doesnt seem to make any allowance for that. I was disappointed cause I thought my marathon training should count for something!!
KihoBebiluPute · 17/09/2020 15:56

@Cloudhopping you are quite right it's not very exact or universally applicable - there will always be outliers on any attempt to create a model like this.

yes the page is regularly updated and so far it doesn't have anything for activity and fitness level - possibly because the statistical analysis for that hasn't been done yet?

Mines 52 (actual age 57). Have 2 friends the same age and based on what I know about their health one comes out at 61, the other at 78.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 17/09/2020 16:04

I can't view the table properly so have no idea. (And my phone is only a few months old so not due to that). Hmm

FromTheAshes · 17/09/2020 16:05

I came out as 38, real age 43. Happy with that. My ex, on the other hand, came out as 96!

Keepdistance · 17/09/2020 16:16

41 covid age 37
Dp 41 covid age 41 -46 on weight borderline.
I think we maybe had it and i was worse.
Heart palpitations. Pain in upper chest. Rib pain. His cough was worse more phlegmy. He seems to now have reflux/throat clearing.
But i do have an autoimmune issue and think my high blood sugar- though not diabetic would go against me.
I do think the asthma risk is much higher than 1 because basically your lungs etc are already not optimal really dont want lung damage or heart damage.
And we dont know what happens to people when they get the next virus after this.
Long covid seems to affect all age groups and doesnt depend how bad you were at the time

ChavvySexPond · 17/09/2020 16:16

I know it's an extremely blunt instrument but my dad's risk is right in the red zone. My mum's is lower than her age.

TheOrigRightsofwomen · 17/09/2020 16:17

It's really not that smart, and if you follow the news you'll have a good idea. Essentially if you have the conditions which make you vulnerable then you add points (the number of points are related to the severity of the condition) and if you're female you get to remove a few.

The people who come up with a high age, should already be aware that they are vulnerable.

chipshopElvis · 17/09/2020 16:17

Thanks for sharing, covid and actual are the same if I hadn't lost weight I would be 9 years older. Giving me a kick to try and loose the rest!

gamerchick · 17/09/2020 16:19

What you have to sit and work it out?

Too lazy for that Grin

It's just reading and adding up Grin
JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 17/09/2020 16:26

Mine is 2 years above my real age because I have mild hypertension (not medicated) so I added that on for safety factor. It doesn't seem to take in to account whether you exercise. I would have thought healthy lungs would be a bonus?

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 17/09/2020 16:27

If the hypertension is only for full on medicated situation then I'd be 5 years younger than my real age.

midgebabe · 17/09/2020 16:28

I have to say I found the table at the bottom disconcerting

Dh is moderate which is a 1 in 100 chance of dying if he catches the virus ...which doesn't feel moderate to me...I'm rather fond of him
