'Snitch on your neighbours '

Lots of sound bites in today's MSM from the policing minister suggesting pretty clearly that if you see your neighbours in groups of more than 6, ring the police.

The government are not even trying to hide their blatant tactics anymore to create divisions and animosity so that we stop focusing on the fact that they are a complete fuck up. There is already so much negativity out there. When I venture out, I'm more intimidated by somebody saying something to me about me unknowingly breaching a rule than I am of covid itself!

Will you snitch on your neighbour? I certainly won't be.

OP posts:
Batshitbeautycosmeticsltd · 14/09/2020 10:13

NO! I will not snitch on my neighbours.

BlusteryShowers · 14/09/2020 10:15

No.

MaxNormal · 14/09/2020 10:17

@KeysDontBelongInTheFridge honestly I am dreading what the news will be later today. Angry doesn't even begin to cover the sense of utter affront I feel right now.

BigSpringy · 14/09/2020 10:17

TheVanguardSix exactly right. The scariest part of the whole pandemic has been the illustration of how willingly some people will hand over their freedoms and turn on each other rather than hold their governments to account.

sashagabadon · 14/09/2020 10:17

I will never ever ever do this.
And i think interviewers on radio this morning were being deliberately goady to the police spokesman. Either way it was a story for them.
Of course the police don't want to be called every time someone has an extra person in there house but they can't actually say so.
The police probably hate the snitchers, not want to encourage the Hmm

PinkMacaron · 14/09/2020 10:18

I'm sure the police have the resources to respond to every complaint.

storminabuttercup · 14/09/2020 10:22

Absolutely not. It's bollocks.

Morana23 · 14/09/2020 10:24

Not a chance will I be snitching on anyone. Completely agree with you OP. The only situation I would ever snitch is if I had good reason to suspect abuse of a child, or vulnerable person. I don't agree with people policing eachother. Head down and mind own business.

MrsBrunch · 14/09/2020 10:25

Yes I would. Anonymously of course.

Yellowbutterfly1 · 14/09/2020 10:27

Too true BigSpringy. It’s like something has been put in their water.

It’s more and more like The comment I read on Facebook a few weeks ago could have some truth. If this government told you you wouldn’t catch Covid 19 if you stuck your fingers up your a**e, what would happen?
There would be a lot of smelly fingers.

Gross but with just how easily some have been lead nothing would shock me anymore.

Having had experience of a communist government, it’s becoming more and more like it every day.

OpenlyGayExOlympicFencer · 14/09/2020 10:27

In my ends, no chance.

cologne4711 · 14/09/2020 10:28

I would be sorely tempted to snitch on parties but would be much too lazy. Hopefully people will be sensible if they have them though - and stay indoors and quiet, so the neighbours don't know. Like a pp, it would be the noise that would annoy me more than anything.

As for people not quarantining, I don't know if my neighbours have been on holiday and where to, and I don't know if they've been contacted by contract tracing unless they start coming round in vans with COVID CONTACT TRACING in big letters on them. And if I went anywhere on holiday, I wouldn't share where I went with anyone until afterwards.

RedRiverShore · 14/09/2020 10:30

No, but I look forward to seeing who the first government minister is that breaks the rules

Carpathian2 · 14/09/2020 10:31

@TheVanguardSix

As the daughter of a man who grew up in Nazi Germany, I'd rather eat my dog's faeces than snitch on anyone. I know how this movie ends. Divide and rule: It's such a blatant MO, governments don't even attempt to hide their motive now.

Here's an idea: Sort the testing out instead of suggesting we ring our Community Gestapo Goon if we see a group of 8 crying over their dead nana.

Thankyou so much for putting into words what I've been suspecting for a while now. It's social control and I'm shocked at how many people would go along with it.

The hysteria on MN is beginning to really piss me off.

BillywilliamV · 14/09/2020 10:31

If my neighbours decided to stage Glastonbury in the neighbouring field, my only beef would honestly be with the noise!

Thewiseoneincognito · 14/09/2020 10:32

I will absolutely be doing this. The alternative is a hard lockdown in the autumn if people can’t follow the rules. To be honest I think this is a prelude to another lockdown but let’s see...

TweeterandtheMonkeyman · 14/09/2020 10:32

@MaxNormal indeed 🤔!!

Wish we had a like button

No I won’t be snitching on my neighbours

Batshitbeautycosmeticsltd · 14/09/2020 10:32

@MrsBrunch

Yes I would. Anonymously of course.
Yeah, cuz the neighbours are never going to know it was you Hmm.
OpenlyGayExOlympicFencer · 14/09/2020 10:34

@RedRiverShore

No, but I look forward to seeing who the first government minister is that breaks the rules
Oh blimey yes, I'm already excited.
MynephewR · 14/09/2020 10:34

Absolutely not. Feels like the government is trying to tear this country apart Angry

WanderingMilly · 14/09/2020 10:35

Only in the UK would reporting wrong-doing be termed as "snitching". Why? If someone is putting others at risk, why wouldn't you alert the authorities who can do something about it?

This is perfectly normal in Scandinavian countries, where I have experience of living for a while. Scandinavian societies are generally more compliant with regulations anyway; however, they also report those who do not comply. This isn't just in relation to the current crisis but things like tax evasion, non-payments and so on. In fact it is considered as part of an "open and transparent society", everyone can see what everyone else is doing and will say something if regulations aren't complied with. They have a high regard for each other and a good standard of living, and are not considered as repressive states or dictatorships because of it. In fact they consider themselves to have higher moral values and a high regard for the good of society as a whole.

Perhaps we should change our own perspective and values??

Thewiseoneincognito · 14/09/2020 10:35

Also the idiots here who think it’s some kind of communist experiment, it’s a global pandemic not some Tory plot to trick us all into slavery. 🙄 reading some of your ‘defiant’ comments makes me laugh at the level of immaturity some of you have.

TempsPerdu · 14/09/2020 10:36

There’s a reason ‘divide and rule’ is such an enduring political strategy. It works almost every time.

ItsGoingTibiaK · 14/09/2020 10:39

He’s a government minister. He was asked a series of direct questions on Radio 4 about what people should do If they have concerns about the new restrictions being broken.

How else should he have answered those questions?

TheVanguardSix · 14/09/2020 10:42

Yes I would. Anonymously of course.

I bet you just said 'fuck it' and pulled the net curtains down this summer. Not even an NHS rainbow drawn by the cat to block your view.
