I got sent this on WhatsApp.
I've read the draft proposal and mainly they want to authorise people who have no previous training to be able to give a vaccine that will be unlicensed. They will give them limited training. And the person giving the vaccine will be exempt from personal liability. They want to outsource the supply of the vaccines to wholesaler who have no experience with this. Vaccines need to be transported in very specific conditions to be effective, so by giving this contract to inexperienced/ unlicensed wholesalers there may be issues.with the vaccine.
I've attached the full message I received.

What do you think? Have the government tried to sneak it through or are we just not the target audience for the consultant?

After 18th Sept, the Government are going to say they 'consulted' the public and, because there were no objections, then we all want unlicenced vaccines and we are happy for non-medical staff to administer them and for them to be mass promoted in our country with no public ability to ask for compensation if the vaccine is harmful or we get damaged.
They will say "you agreed to it" ( even though no one saw the government's request to give their opinion as, of course, this request is not being seen by many ).

Please don’t fall into apathy and then complain when it’s too late.

Had a read through and most of the points in the document seem pretty sensible, but don't see the need for any changes as to what isalready covered by Reg 174. It's not really non medical staff who will be administering the vaccines apart from maybe physios .

But the product will be unlicensed.
They want to give the vaccine before it's got it license. I understand they want to expand the workforce but people need training.
Unfortunately with the way the government have dealt with pandemic so far I have no confidence in them.
The outline states the workforce will be given training but will it be adequate or just another rush job?
There is a reason medicines/ vaccines need a license before they can be given.

As someone who learnt to take blood & give injections as part of her degree, the vaccines by non medical professionals doesn’t worry me one bit. It’s not hard to be trained & learn. I cracked it in a day. I wouldn’t let it concern you.

Taking blood on the other hand.. I bruised so many people 🙈😫

Wow. At least it is only health professionals they are proposing do the vaccinations.

But the complete absolution of anyone should things go wrong is shocking. No one will be held responsible if there is something wrong with the vaccine or a bad reaction.

But they are proposing this - direct quote from www.gov.uk:

A temporary authorisation of the supply of an unlicensed vaccine could be given by the UK’s licensing authority under regulation 174 of the Human Medicines Regulations

That is unlicensed.

It's on the government website. I checked the website.
They want to give it unlicensed, because in their reasoning the danger from Covid is so high.

When the government have a vaccine and a programme to deliver it you can decide if you want it or not and it will be over the news.

I think I would prefer to take my chances with the virus than a vaccine that’s been rushed through. I read somewhere it needs to be trialled for at least year on humans to be able to see full side effects. I will wait until a few million have taken it before i take it.

I can't seem this bit being a problem. Every year at my NHS Trust various non-medical people are trained to give the flu vaccine, the Trust puts a notice out asking for volunteer peer vaccinators.

I really doubt you need to wait a year to see full side effects. That is just being cautious but there is a very tiny chance that side effects would appear after that amount of time. If you go by that reasoning then you must also realise that it is also documented that quite a high proportion of people with covid are having side effects including permanent lung and heart damage. The only possible long-term side effect you might get from a vaccine (and by the way this is very unlikely) would probably be autoimmune mediated and viral infections themselves are far more likely to cause those side effects than the vaccine.
I suspect that by adding the unlicensed bit they are allowed previously untrained healthcare professionals to be involved in administration of vaccines for clinical trials. They are not allowed to administer an unlicensed vaccine to the general population unless it is within a clinical trial.

All "trained" professionals were once "untrained".

Why on earth would you believe something you received on whatsapp?

I went on the government website and checked myself.
Then I read the proposals in detail, before coming to a conclusion.

That is unlicensed.

Pharmacists have been giving vaccinations for years.

"Please share". Instantly know it's fake news.

‘Unlicensed’ doesn’t mean ‘we bought this off Del-Boy Trotter and we don’t know what it is’. It means in this case that they can authorise it for emergency use for some people before it’s gone through full licensing, but after it’s been through lots and lots of very rigorous testing.

Please don’t automatically trust anything you read on WhatsApp. People are scared and don’t trust the government but that doesn’t mean any scary thing you hear about the government is true and going to get us all killed.

Surely it just means that they will train people to give vaccines. It's not that difficult to train people to do this. I have no medical training at all and had to give my husband daily injections for a month post op. It's not like they are getting randoms to take blood or something.

I imagine it is health professionals with knowledge and experience whom the government wish to consult and make comment to their proposals. I don't believe they are sneaking anything through.

YABU. WhatsApp is not a good source of news. That is exactly the way conspiracy theories work.

Place theory A on social media. 90% of recipients ignore, 10% bite. Now that 10% become ambassadors for theory A and you have nothing to do. They go recruit/educate another group and any explanation by experts is now framed as a confirmation theory A is right because "the establishment denies it".

Soon you have a sizeable portion of your population convinced theory A is the new truth.
