Preparing for potential isolation

What are people doing to prepare for any potential isolation?
DS (age9) is in a class bubble, if someone gets Covid then we, as a family, will all have to isolate for 14 days.
If you don't know anyone locally, or have relatives near by, how are you preparing for 14 days of not leaving the house?
Food delivery slots are as rare as hens teeth here so how does one go about getting essentials in?
I guess it will come down to always trying to have two weeks worth of food in and being on first name terms with the local take away who deliver.

I have delivery slots booked for the next few weeks. Not doing anything else to prepare

If the bubble is sent home, only the child needs to isolate unless the child is displaying symptoms themselves. Everyone else can continue their lives as normal - having said that, I'd be being more careful with who the rest of the family mix with, just to be on the safe side. Especially being near vulnerable people.

I prepped for a no deal Brexit. I topped up for Covid.
I have a good medicine cupboard- plenty of lemsips, calpol, ibuprofen- adult and child, thermometer, cough medicine, tissues, loo roll.
I always have a full freezer. Plenty of tinned soups, beans, rice pudding, pasta and sauces. We have a milkman for milk and eggs. Treat and baking stuff in the cupboard.
I have lots of activity books, printer paper and the odd craft and Lego set.
Basically prepped for another lockdown!

I ordered a lovely hamper from Hotel Chocolat.

I have absolutely no clue how we'd manage. We have no friends or family to help and can't get delivery slots. We have to top up our key meters, too - during lockdown the energy companies increased the emergency credit in case it was needed but it's back down to £5 now, nowhere near enough for 2 weeks.

Is there a link to what you’re supposed to do if your child is showing symptoms.

I understand that yes, they will need a test but is it a fact that the rest of the family need to self isolate until the results are in?

LucyTamedOgres · 10/09/2020 19:08

And by symptoms I mean a cough, not one that the government has mentioned but a cough deemed to be a reason the school send your dc home?

Mine hadn’t been send home btw.

Sent!

If delivery slots are hard to come by what about click and collect and getting someone to collect for you, we’ve got a mutual aid group that do things like that. AFAIK Mutual Aid are all around the country.
I have a full freezer, including frozen veg for when the fresh veg starts to look ropey. Also got a couple of milks frozen in there. Got a couple of weeks worth of dried food in too.

I’ve got extra toiletries - toothpastes, shampoo etc. I’m stocked up on paracetamol, ibuprofen, decongestants.
Good idea about the arts and crafts I need to restock those.

After the first lockdown I signed up for a local veg box scheme and milk delivery. There's also a neighborhood WhatsApp group where people can ask for help if they are self isolating. I try to keep a spare of everything in the food cupboard. I've got a two week supply of all of our medications. I think we would be OK.
