Did anyone else’s symptoms start like this before they tested positive?

Friday night I had a tickle in my throat which I expected to turn into a mild cold. By Saturday night I had a blazing sore throat which literally felt like my throat was on fire. Then I started coughing and feeling shivery but my temp was normal according to the thermometer. I’ve also been exhausted and slept and slept! This morning I’ve got a cough, slight tight chest, a bit of a runny nose and I’ve just realised I can’t smell anything. Not my shower gel, my perfume, anything! It is so weird. I’m having a test this morning. Did anyone else test positive with these symptoms?
The who mentions sore throats but they aren’t officially on the U.K. symptom list.

Hope you get results and are feeling better soon OP.

yeOldeTrout · 09/09/2020 07:46

Hope you feel better soon, OP.

Sounds like COVID. Sorry. If it is you are likely to keep getting worse, (as you are doing) til about day 7-10. This is normal, try not to panic. Rest and drink plenty. I mean seriously lots.
Keep an eye on your breathing (ideally on your blood o2) esp in the second week as this is when the breathing issues tend to hit. You should start to recover after 10 days if lucky, or 14, but that may take another couple of weeks. Again, keep resting.

Try not to worry, i had those symptoms last week and it was just a bug doing the rounds. It's that time of year.

torn2020 · 09/09/2020 08:37

My test came back negative OP and the bug I had last week still sounds a lot like yours. In my case the sickness/nausea was because of all the grotty mucous.

A week on I'm still feeling rough when I wake up but the chest tightness clears after a couple of hours and I can get on with my day as normal.

GabriellaMontez · 09/09/2020 08:42

Sounds like it could be any one of many horrible viruses.

Hope you get your results today. And remember for most people its short lived.

zombiepara · 09/09/2020 09:54

@Cinderellashoes sounds pretty much like when i had it. I only had a temp for a day (barely one at that as well).
Biggest symptoms for me were exhaustion no matter how much sleep i had, loss of taste and smell, body aching, especially hips and back, and shortness of breath on stairs

Cinderellashoes · 09/09/2020 10:21

Have you made a full recovery now? I have a diagnosed anxiety disorder and have just been discharged from therapy so it’s quite hard for me to keep perspective on things. Especially in the middle of the night.

I’vecalled about my results and they’ve said it may be another 24 hours. They’ve emailed the labs with my barcode and I should hear by tomorrow. Confused

In the meantime I feel really sick and rubbish, my heads banging and I have a 19 month old to take care of!

@Cinderellashoes I made a full recovery, with a serious lung condition to boot!

@Ernieshere according to the Guardian this morning, maybe 1000,000 cases a day at that stage, of which "maybe 5% were tested". NOW it's all coming out!!

Cinderellashoes · 09/09/2020 10:32

I’m so glad you’re okay!

I hope you feel better soon, sounds like a bug to me but the test will tell you for sure. I've read enough threads to know that the results can take longer than expected to might be better to prepare for a longer wait

zombiepara · 09/09/2020 16:58

@Cinderellashoes a nearly full recovery yes, but occasionally get a bit out of puff still...(although this is more due to moving to a townhouse and lockdown weight gain)

tearsandtiaras · 09/09/2020 17:01

Hope you feel better soon OP

november90 · 09/09/2020 17:08

Hope you don't mind me following this thread! I really hope you're ok ❤️

Spodge · 09/09/2020 17:14

Hope you feel better soon. I frequently lose sense of smell if I have a heavy cold.

Jontysmum · 10/09/2020 11:36

How are you OP?

OverTheRainbow88 · 10/09/2020 11:47

I would be chasing results after 3 days, everyone I know got there’s around 24 hours

picklemewalnuts · 10/09/2020 12:03

Sorry you're feeling so ill, and the results have taken so long! Hope you hear soon, and hope you are on the mend.

Did you mean to do that many zeros? Lol. Would you mind posting the link?

Cinderellashoes · 10/09/2020 18:43

Hi all. Thanks for checking on me! The results came back and I was negative! To be honest I was surprised, but I am feeling much better, my cough is still there but I just feel so much better in myself. DH has it now!!! Blush

Oh bless you @Cinderellashoes what a rollercoaster! I hope you have a speedy recovery! I bet the anxiety of it all made you feel so much worse hope your family are ok ❤️

userxx · 10/09/2020 22:29

@Cinderellashoes Yep, so many bugs doing the rounds at the moment. When all this Covid shit kicked off at the start I came down with a 24 hour bug, literally couldn't move out of bed or hold a fork, one of my friends was giving me the last rites, I'll be honest I was nervous! That was at the time of scare mongering though and we were told it was fatal.

zombiepara · 12/09/2020 10:38

@Cinderellashoes glad it was a negative result! Peace of mind 👍🏻
