I can hear next door coughing

My neighbours (a young couple) seem to have a developed a cough over the last few days.
Obviously in recent times I wouldn’t have cared, but they’ve been going out in the car most days. They have a small child who I think they struggle with as I’ve seen the mother crying on more than one occasion.

What can I do? They should be isolating if they have coughs and they definitely sound continuous.

multipack comment of the day.
I despair of people sometimes. Neurotic, paranoid and bloody nosy.

I am on blood pressure medication and one of the main side effects is a dry cough. I have had this cough long before covid was even a thing(I’m on the medication since last year) but it mainly happens at night. I sleep with my windows open & I often wonder what the neighbours think if they hear me. Some nights are worse than others. It’s definitely not covid though. It’s made me very paranoid though. I spend half the night trying to hide the bloody cough now.

When did they tell you they haven't had a test? Because if you've not spoken to them you can't possibly know if they've been tested or not.

The number of people who seem incapable of minding their own bloody business is infuriating.

1984 was not supposed to be an instruction manual, as they say.

Maybe they’ve been doing some work on their house and stirred up a lot of dust. Maybe they have asthma. Maybe they’ve had to put the bloody heating on and it’s drying out their throats.

Even if it is a new continuous cough and nothing to do with the many, many other reasons you can cough, how do you know they’ve not had a test?

As for the mother crying - she could have had an argument with her husband, be missing her family or have suffered a bereavement. People cry for even more reasons that they cough. And none of those reasons are a reason for you to make up your own conclusions about her situation.

Also, what relevance is the fact they’re young?

Can you be sure that they haven't had a negative test?

@Multipack5678

Do you have any red paint? If so, you could paint a cross on their door to warn the community. If you have time you could also ring a bell when they leave the house.

I have had a cough for a few weeks which is actually because I've been ill (non Covid) and the medication caused reflux. It was the reflux that made me cough.

Have to admit I did wonder what my neighbours would be thinking Grin

(Mine know I had it March though and didn't get up for 5 weeks!)

Aye because coronavirus is the only cause of coughing. I think people have completely lost all sense of rationality. People had coughs long before and will continue to have long after coronavirus has fucked off.

Jesus, is this really happening?
I used a strong and highly scented kitchen cleaner yesterday and was coughing and spluttering all night.
Are you a paragon of Covid virtue OP?

Mask always on, fitted correctly?
SD?
Not seeing people?
All your family the same?

Start with your own backyard then you can piss in others.

So true.
I keep reading posts on here like "my knee twinges s bit, should I have a test"
It's almost like people want a second wave and lockdown.

OP, listening through the wall to your neighbours coughing and considering taking action would normally be considered to be a symptom of paranoid behaviour. Are you struggling with your mental health?

How do you know that one of their trips out wasn't for a test and they've had the all clear?

What's going on with all these types of threads lately 🤔
This one kicking off because next door has got a cough, another one kicking off because a toddler coughed near her child, another one kicking off about a child returning from Portugal going straight to school without quarantine even though she didn't need to......
The world has gone mad! Shock

Are you not bored of worrying about every time you hear a cough already. If not, you're in for a rough winter. People will continue to get normal coughs too

"It's almost like people want a second wave and lockdown" yes, exactly. There are people on here apparently gagging for it, judging by the number of times it is forecast. I sometimes wonder if their lives were rather empty before the current situation occurred.
As for the op, he/she should be boarding up these coughing miscreants in their house until they stop coughing. Mind you, it doesn't say much for housebuilding/insulation when you can hear every sound of your neighbours lives. I think there are worse things one could hear than coughing.

This is an idiotic perspective, people are scared of a second spike is all.

The first one was bad enough!!
