I can hear next door coughing

My neighbours (a young couple) seem to have a developed a cough over the last few days.
Obviously in recent times I wouldn’t have cared, but they’ve been going out in the car most days. They have a small child who I think they struggle with as I’ve seen the mother crying on more than one occasion.

What can I do? They should be isolating if they have coughs and they definitely sound continuous.

What can you do? Mind your own sodding business. For all you know they've been tested and are negative.

Better than hearing them having wild sex at 2:00 am which was what I used to hear !

I've got an awful cough at the moment but I've had a negative test so presumably it's my hay fever. The neighbours must have heard it and seen me going out but they can mind their own business!

What is this country coming to? There's another post where someone with PTSD is getting grief from some posters because she can't wear a mask and now people are treated with suspicion for coughing in their own homes

I didn't realise there was so many busy bodies until covid.

@Jrobhatch29 I wonder what they are going to do when this is over!

Phone the police.

How do you know one of the times they were going out in the car they weren’t going for a test?

How thin are your walls that you can hear this anyway? Maybe stop listening with a glass at the wall and stop spying on them.

As for what you can do - nothing. Just keep away from them if you’re worried.

Wow, this is going to be a loooong winter.

Hell. You’d hate to live next door to me OP. I have almost permanent Catarrh. I cough at night at least 50% of the time. In summer it’s bad because hay fever, in autumn because it’s wet, in winter because cold.

Ive also left the house every single day (work). I’ve never had a test, and won’t unless I have any other symptoms alongside my cough.

You mind your own bloody business, that's what you do.

I cannot believe the amount of busybodies this virus has brought out. Unbelievable. This is not a police state.

Some people won't be satisfied until we have a secret police force, who can disappear people.

OMFG!!! Report them quickly OP @Likeacatoutofhell to the cough police

Get them fined immediately

Seriously .... are you going to "do something" about people coughing? You know we are coming into cough, cold and flu season?

Report
Pinkmakeupbag · 05/09/2020 08:56

Ffs is this what the world has come to?

Have you honestly got nothing better to do?

Report

I think you should call the police and alert the CIA.

Neighbours coughing is really very serious and the army should probably get involved. Especially since you live next door to them and should have full access to all their private details and medical records.

Good work with the surveillance, I'd recommend some recording equipment too so you can record some of their private conversations if at all possible and store them for later use. I'd also definitely be making a wall shrine to them with captured photos, maybe some candles and if you can develop a nervous tic that would also help create the atmosphere- you could even snatch some laundry off their line too. Good luck!

I've had a cough for 2 weeks now. I had a negative covid test 2 days after it started. My neighbours wouldn't know about my test but I can't hide my cough.
Get a grip.

If you're that concerned about them going out you could offer to do their shopping and errands for them so they can stay at home if they need to isolate.

Jesus Christ. I've got a chest infection, my neighbours can probably hear me. I don't feel the need to go and explain to them.

Report
butterpuffed · 05/09/2020 09:07

They may have had a test, you don't know.

A year ago you probably wouldn't even have noticed whether they were were coughing, doubt if it would even have registered.

My sister had a caugh so got tested and was negative. Maybe they have done that? Her child goes to nursery so I suspect she got it via them.

I develop a cough when my allergies act up, due to postnasal drip and the refusal of the NHS to do anything about it (when I lived in the states I got allergy shots every year that sorted me out, now I just have to suffer). Usually this is in the spring because of pollen but sometimes in the autumn due to mould spores. I've got a right hack on now, please do feel free to report me to the authorities.

Wind your neck in OP. This whole thing has really got out of hand. People just seem to be turning against one another constantly judging others and reporting people for stuff that frankly isn’t their business.
