... for travel reasons, has anyone official checked up on you?

If you are quarantined, you have to stay put for 14 days, it’s not worth the £1,000 fine if you get caught breaking these rules. Yes, people I know were phoned to check and with phone tracking, they can tell where you are.

UntamedWisteria · 04/09/2020 20:01

I know what the rules are, and I am following them.

But no-one has checked on me and I wondered if anyone else has been checked on.

Also pretty sure they aren't tracking my phone.

Day 7 here and no contact whatsoever...and they aren't tracking phones!

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 04/09/2020 20:24

Partner is quarantining after visiting Spain - not been contacted.
Sister recently had to after holiday in France - not contacted.
They are definitely not tracking phones and it's very hit and miss whether they call to ask politely whether you are observing quarantine.
They really don't care

IndiaMay · 04/09/2020 20:28

Day 6 here and no ones checked on us. We have followed it other than DP left to post some legal documents in the post box at the end of our road. It does say on govt website you can leave to carry out anything to do with a legal proceeding so assuming that's sort of okay. It was a late night walk to the post box and back.

Ffs of course they cant track phones!

DumpedByText · 04/09/2020 21:31

My DD (13) finishes0 quarentine tomorrow after coming back from France (I didn't go).

No one has checked on her, no calls.

She hasn't left the house and can't wait until she can go out tomorrow.

The lady who did my nails yesterday said she knows loads of people who should be in quarentine but are not doing it. They no its not being monitored so refuse to comply!

Mumof3cherubs · 04/09/2020 22:32

We are on day 14. No ones checked. I’ve spent the last two weeks anxiously carrying my phone around with me indoors worried I might miss the call. Feel like we are on the naughty step. Having a glass of champagne to celebrate our imminent freedom.

anotherwinkywinkybumbum · 04/09/2020 22:44

An FB travel group I am on for Tsivili im Zante asked the same question and quite a few had received a phone call from the outsourced agency.

UntamedWisteria · 05/09/2020 08:14

So far only one poster knows of anyone who's been contacted.

What a farce.

I was surprised having filled out the passenger locator form, which clearly stated we'd been in a country that would require us to quarantine (but one added to the list quite recently) that we did not get any kind of email or the contact when we got back telling us we now had to quarantine.

I guess it's possible that some people returning from more obscure countries aren't even aware.

I'm in quarantine, not a peep. My friend's friend apparently had a call on his landline on day 1 of quarantine to remind him to quarantine. No idea who from as it was a second hand story!

Keepyourginup · 05/09/2020 10:44

We're in quarantine. We are following the rules but no checks so far. We weren't even asked to scan/show passenger locator form when we landed at the airport. Complete joke. When we landed in the 'covid hotspot' country last month it was taken very seriously.... temperature checked, mandatory mask wearing for all, loads of police, forms scanned and checked. Complete opposite of UK!

notevenat20 · 05/09/2020 11:12

Ffs of course they cant track phones!

Your phone company, and probably Google and a number of other apps you might have installed track your phone constantly all the time. The question is if the govt has the legal right to ask them where you are.

notevenat20 · 05/09/2020 11:13

Maybe it's better they trust us to do the right thing?

Queenfreak · 05/09/2020 11:21

Parents quarantined here for 2 weeks, they live in spain but needed to be in the uk for an appointment.
Not a peep. They were very surprised at how lax the uk is. Say they feel more at risk here than at home

SubordinateThatClause · 05/09/2020 11:22

Day whatever here! They all merge into one but it's almost 2 weeks. No tracing or check up from anyone.

PheasantPlucker1 · 05/09/2020 11:34

DD and DSS should both have quarantined, neither did. No one checked!

(I didnt take them abroad, before anyone blames me Grin)

The part here about tracking phones using location services is a lie.

@11:21Queenfreak

  • "Parents quarantined here for 2 weeks, they live in spain but needed to be in the uk for an appointment. Not a peep. They were very surprised at how lax the uk is. Say they feel more at risk here than at home" * If it were my parents making such idiotic comments, I'd walk them through the actual relative risks, to help keep them safe by being in the habit of looking up and understanding their actual local risks in Spain. Did you do that?

I don't know why people feel they should all be checked on for quarantining. People don't search your bag every time you leave a shop in case you're a shoplifter, HMRC don't audit every individual's tax return, spot checks are no different. The majority will quarantine, or at least largely stay at home, with their friends and family being congnisant of the higher risk they pose, and a majority is enough to reduce spread. UK isn't New Zealand where the few thousand can be popped into hotels at their own expense. There were 1.3 million arrivals into the UK just by air in July, the relative cost versus risks of door-knocking everyone can't be worth it when most will understand it's about protecting their own family, friends and colleagues.

Fiftysixthnamechange · 05/09/2020 12:09

Day 11 here for 4 of us, no call, nothing.

Coffeecak3 · 05/09/2020 12:14

Day 4. On day 1 had an email from public health telling me the rules.
I'm returning to France on day 8 which is stated on my form.
Can't wait.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/09/2020 12:30

No, my friend has been in quarantine and no one checked up on him.

UntamedWisteria · 05/09/2020 12:45

I don't know why people feel they should all be checked on for quarantining.

Because so many people aren't doing it. Those of us who are responsible and following the rules are also probably more likely to have been very careful on holiday too and therefore at lower risk.

We weren't on a beach holiday at all, we've been hiking, not stayed in a hotel and only went out to dinner at restaurants twice so had minimal contact with other people.

Totally agree. Spent 2 weeks with my mum who lives in Spain and can also say we felt much safer there. Checks into Spanish airport better and also form filled in more comprehensive than UK. (On day 8 )
JPduck · 05/09/2020 16:12

And no check up call (day 8)
