DH coworker tested positive. WWYD?

DH works away for work (leaves Monday morning home Friday night.) he’s being tested for Covid every 2 days at work. Someone in his “bubble” at work tested positive yesterday and was sent home. Last time DH was tested was Thursday. We had a toddler and a 4 Month old.
I have the option to stay at my parents with the kids for the weekend as they live down the road incase DH has caught the virus from co worker. This would obviously mean he couldn’t see the kids for 2 weeks. Is that overkill? Or is it sensible? I’m conflicted. His job is not an office job and he’s been in contact with coworker briefly and handled equipment that coworker has.

If he has covid I'd stay with your parents what does your DH say about it? You're lucky to be in that position. The kids will be fine not seeing him for a couple of weeks.

Sensible. We'd do it. We discuss this while I was pregnant with our second and before DH was furloughed and decided that if it came to it, I'd have to take the children to my mums.

No that’s not right. He could have contracted COVID prior to Thursday but still been in the incubation phase and thus would test negative. And so equally if he did a test today and it was negative it doesn’t mean he hasn’t caught it.

What have work said to do, is he meant to self isolate for 2 weeks?

So will your dh be tested again on Monday? If he's clear, staying with your folks may only be for a few days.

Sensible. If he's positive, and you get it, and you're both presenting symptoms at the same time... I wouldn't think looking after kids would be easy in that situation. And grandparents wouldn't be an option as the kids would be exposed.

What sort of industry is he in where they get tested every two days? Just out of interest.

I would err on the side of caution. I am sure DH would rather miss you and DC for a couple of weeks rather than risk giving you the virus.

I think that even if he tests negative on monday, if track and trace have decided he has had sufficient contact with the coworker he is supposed to isolate for the full 14 days.

Oh god is he in set in leavesden? I think you’re best staying with your parents this weekend - there are a few cases scattered around the set (actually that one has gone on hold so it must be different - insurance requirements are insane).

Ha I work in an nhs hospital, clinical staff, and we only get tested if symptomatic now. Unfortunately we haven’t got enough staff as it is so they can’t risk finding anyone who’s positive and asymptomatic, or who would look after the patients if they had to isolate for 7 days?? Obviously more money and staff floating about in the film industry though 😳

Can DH stay in whatever accomodation he uses during the week until he gets another test?

I don't see the point in them because almost every industry has their own guidance for isolation, which doesn't always include the full bubble. So to me, it renders bubbles useless.

Precisely. Surely the point of a bubble is they are all in or all self isolating and they don't need to socially distabce. Otherwise what's the difference between a bubble and a group?
I still find the concept of being in more than one bubble a bit stupid too. But hey more confusing crap from this government.

I believe the coworker could infect others a few dats prior to a positive test. They test every two days and his thursday one was positive. He could have been positive on wednesday and infectious since the weekend. I'd not see DH for two weeks counted from thursday in that case.

My dh works in a small dark office with no windows with 10 other men. One of them tested positive just into lockdown. Not one of the other men caught it.

My work place consideres contact as
Face to face unmasked conversation for at least 15 mins
Personally I would take kids to mums
Get DH tested again today in a few days if clear then get back together

I thought the whole idea of bubbles was that if the bubble 'burst' then everyone self isolated?

Anyway as someone with ZERO family support, a disabled child and a five year old I have nightmares about what would happen if myself and DH got covid and were badly affected at the same time. If you have the option I would definitely take it
