They’ve been busy recently...

#UPDATE | Officers attended a property in #Swinton where 3 families were celebrating a child's birthday in a private garden. The homeowner has been issued with a fixed penalty notice.

Draconian or justified?

They should have broken it up, so unfair on the rest in lockdown

bingbong1970 · 23/08/2020 10:08

@EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide

The rules are the rules and are the rules for a good reason, anyone thinking they are above the rules is a selfish idiot.
The rules aren't for a good reason. You're naive and easily controlled. Endlessly ruining millions of healthy peoples lives because one or two people die a day is insane. Rules are the rules. Got to follow the rules. I'm following the rules. Why won't these people follow the rules?. There must be something wrong with them. They've got to follow the rules. They must be stupid. Rules are the rules. I follow the rules. They have to follow the rules. They have to be made to follow the rules. I'm going to help and make them follow the rules. Rules are the rules. I'm following the rules. These people are incapable of following the rules. I hate them. Make them follow the rules. Stop them breaking the rules. Rules are the rules. I'm just following the rules. Be like me. If they're not going to follow the rules then. Well. They should be stopped from breaking the rules. They have to be stopped from breaking the rules. Rules are the rules. They have to be stopped. They must stop breaking the rules. They must be punished. Fine them. Imprison them. Stop them. Kill them. Rules are the rules. I was only following the rules.
InDeoEstMeaFiducia · 23/08/2020 10:12

@Dohorseseatapples

The whole of Greater Manchester is restricted at the moment.

The rules are clear.

Not for pubs, it seems.
LadyPenelope68 · 23/08/2020 10:12

@bingbong1970

And with every new post you put up in this subject, you show your utter ignorance of the whole subject. This virus is going to continue to cause deaths and restrictions due to the attitude of people like you.

walksen · 23/08/2020 10:16

"I assessed the risk "

Trouble is people telling themselves this is what got GM locked down in the first place. There are lots of people who "assessed the risk" of house parties etc and look where that got us.

PeachGinMummy · 23/08/2020 10:18

I genuinely wish that people who keep banging on about things being 'draconian' and living in a police state would just bloody up sticks and leave the country. Instead of taking pride in telling all the sheeple that they're easily controlled. No. We live in a society that relies on people working together. When we don't have all the answers we have to stick to what we think is the best plan of action, and adapt accordingly.

Please can anybody who doesn't want to follow 'da rulez', and ridicules those that do, just fuck off to a private island somewhere and leave everybody alone. Thanks.

userxx · 23/08/2020 10:25

@PeachGinMummy It's not a case of that though is it. The rules in GM are ridiculous, I go to work everyday and mix with 3 others yet I can't go into the pub with these 3 people or into their houses or gardens. How does that make sense?

FluffyKittensinabasket · 23/08/2020 10:26

PeachGinMummy - I’m sure a lot of people wish that you would fuck off too...hey ho.

I love the fact that the virus won’t get you in any area that the economy needs stimulating so it’s fine to go a cinema, the pub, eating out, to an office etc. But not a garden.

walksen · 23/08/2020 10:31

"It's not a case of that though is it. The rules in GM are ridiculous, I go to work everyday and mix with 3 others yet I can't go into the pub with these 3 people or into their houses or gardens. How does that make sense?"

Supposedly the business /pub owner is responsible for ensuring SD or SD plus measures are followed by their employer. Pubs that dont stick to the rules can be closed down as part of enforcement promised to avoid further lockdown

Track and trace data showed when people go into houses etc people weren't sticking to sd.
whether it is because theyve done their own risk assessments / don't believe in the rule / showing they're not a sheeple / getting hammered or whatever.

BwanaMakubwa · 23/08/2020 10:35

UserXX
When you go to work you are working with colleagues. Your work place has probably put in social distancing rules so the 3 of you are 2m apart , provided hand sanitizer etc. Plus if people can't work then the country will collapse economically.

When you go to the pub you all sit at one table so not 2m apart. You add in alcohol which lowers inhibitions, music so people have to project their voices etc. Anyway you can go to the pub with them if you sit outside.

You can't go sit in their garden presumably because then people start drifting, oh I will just nip in for the loo, oh it's getting chilly let's just pop inside to finish our chat etc. I assume it is because the research has shown that this rule is a risk for 'creep' which then increases spread.
I mean at no point have we been allowed to socialise in other people's homes unless it's a support bubble with a single person or single parent family, yet at Eid there were large families gathering and no doubt had it been Christmas at that point it would have been large families gathering again. I assume the gardens thing is a "slippery slope" rule.

userxx · 23/08/2020 10:36

@FluffyKittensinabasket Exactly. You can't get the virus at work but if you move on to the pub it mysteriously follows you and will infect you there. It's very clever isn't it.

userxx · 23/08/2020 10:37

@BwanaMakubwa No that's not the case at all. Many many small businesses can't do the SD thing, it's just not possible.

Choux · 23/08/2020 10:38

The place which held a wedding reception for 100 has been closed down for a month.
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-53819633

Another place has also been closed down for not following social distancing rules.
www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.lancs.live/news/lancashire-news/blackburn-restaurant-appeal-closure-decision-18793201.amp

Households not following the rules such as this GM family have also had the party shut down and been fined.

If employers are not following social distancing rules and their is an outbreak they will have to close like the Greencore site.

You can see your colleagues at work where your employer has to ensure social distancing is followed. But in the north west contact with everyone has to be more restricted as their is more virus circulating so you can't see your colleagues outside of work.

PeachGinMummy · 23/08/2020 10:43

@userxx there's not feeling the rules are necessary, and then there are people like bingbong who feel it's appropriate to insult others that do think the rules are necessary. I'm fed up of seeing the same key words again and again to describe the 'horrifically dystopian society' we've now ended up in, along with all the insult ice ways of describing those that are following the rules and guidelines. If people are that uncomfortable by all the rules, so uncomfortable that they feel they must insult everybody who wants to keep them in place, then yes. They should fuck off. There's no place for people that are so difficult and uncooperative in a society like ours.

This whole pandemic was purportedly started by a wet market. Unless I've missed some kind of update later down the line. It was started by who 'assessed the risk' and decided they didn't need to stick to certain levels of hygiene, causing a virus to mutate. Well thanks a lot, whoever that was. I bet they don't think they're a sheep.

PeachGinMummy · 23/08/2020 10:45

Insult ice = insulting in my new made up language.

Choux · 23/08/2020 10:46

Anyway you can go to the pub with them if you sit outside.

Only if you sit 2m away from them which a lot of pubs might struggle to accommodate as beer gardens space is in much demand at the moment. (And NW weather can be pretty rainy anyway)

FluffyKittensinabasket · 23/08/2020 10:47

Oh and it’s fine for schools to go back and hundreds of children and staff to mix inside.

Choux · 23/08/2020 10:50

@FluffyKittensinabasket

Oh and it’s fine for schools to go back and hundreds of children and staff to mix inside.
Education is a necessity both for the children and the country's future.

So rules are in place outside of schools and work to reduce the spread of the virus and help schools be safer. If families don't let their kids play with kids who don't attend the same school it will be much harder for the virus to jump between schools.

Flaxmeadow · 23/08/2020 10:51

Not everyone has a garden or a garden where it's possible to social distance, many terraced houses in the north are like this

The rules are made to include as many people as possible.

Pubs and work places have social distancing.

InDeoEstMeaFiducia · 23/08/2020 10:53

LOL, yeah, lots of social distancing going on in pubs. And work places.
Costacoffeeplease · 23/08/2020 10:54

Good

Flaxmeadow · 23/08/2020 10:54

LOL, yeah, lots of social distancing going on in pubs. And work places

Most pubs are. If they dont then they should be closed, and are being closed and fined

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 23/08/2020 10:55

@FluffyKittensinabasket

Oh and it’s fine for schools to go back and hundreds of children and staff to mix inside.
There won't be 100s of pupils and teachers mixing, there will be small bubbles which will be kept separate.
BwanaMakubwa · 23/08/2020 10:55

Oh FFs

Of course you can get the virus in work or in the pub or potentially, at school.

No one is saying that you magically can't get the virus at the pub but it magically appears if you sit in your Auntie Pat's conservatory.

What they are saying is that we as a country will be totally fucked if no one can attend work if school so let's keep those going if we can and minimise the risks elsewhere. And then, because you did not sit in her conservatory and use her loo but went for a walk in the park instead, Aunty Pat will be less likely to get the virus that you have unknowingly picked up at work and have with no symptoms, and she won't fucking die.

ineedaholidaynow · 23/08/2020 10:58

@FluffyKittensinabasket have you seen the many posts from teachers etc asking for better safety measures in place in school which will also help prevent the spread of the virus. Unfortunately they have not been provided with these, so people have to help by reducing their mixing outside school.

Everyone wants schools to go back and they will open, but many of them will have some form of closure very quickly. Especially in areas like GM where the rate is high. It only takes 2 positive cases in a school for it to be treated as an outbreak.
