Has there been one? I thought the situation was being reviewed today but I can't find any info anywhere except Oldham is on the brink of full lockdown but the Mayor thinks it's not necessary. I'm right on the outskirts of GM and hoping for news as cases have risen in general but schools go back in less than 2 weeks.

the same main PHE report also shows testing rates each week from which actual numbers of individual people tested in each watched LA area can be calculated.

I worked for a too short period in the almost GM area 30 years ago, always remember the welcome and warmth of the people there, so hope you all see restrictions lifted really soon. Flowers

How on earth are they going to police how many people visit your house?

NewKittyMeow · 21/08/2020 21:28

I have family in these areas and as far as I can see from Facebook, they’re just socialising as normal. They say they’ve formed a bubble but we’re talking siblings, children and grandparents, at least eight people from three different households, which I’m pretty sure isn’t allowed.

Frazzled2207 · 21/08/2020 22:23

Local media seems to be heavily reporting parties etc being broken up which is far enough.
I don’t think police are going to be interested when it’s just two households mixing.

Whereas it might be genuinely needed in certain specific areas effectively banning people from seeing their families in their own homes just because they live in a certain area is just wrong.

So Trafford is being released from next week.

Stockport too.

Seems daft just before schools go back as rates will probably go up again.

This is getting complicated, where are the boundaries? I know they will exist for council tax purposes, but they are not exactly obvious on the ground ... Does that mean families from Manchester, Tameside, Stretford will now be congregating at soft play centres and ten-pin bowling in Trafford and Stockport?

Willbob · 28/08/2020 13:56

@Bercows thank you

SistemaAddict · 28/08/2020 14:07

@EggysMom probably. Not they anyone in my area has been bothered by the restrictions anyway 🙄

DS will be one of about 40000 students going back to Manchester in the next few weeks. He's a robust sort and a sensible one, but gloomy about the prospect of losing the 'Manc vibe' that made last year fun.

I sincerely hope he'll stick to at least some level of distancing and hygiene!

Stretford is in Trafford but otherwise, yes. Though obviously people from restricted areas have been going to unrestricted areas to meet since the restrictions were first imposed.
Frazzled2207 · 28/08/2020 16:21

Stockport and Bolton fought to be released so that's good. Very worrying that they have decided to release Trafford given that the Leader of the Council has been very vocal that he doesn't want this to happen. Especially as Matt Hancock said last week decisions would be taken more closely with local authorities which was clearly rubbish.
Very vocal local MPs (Graham Brady) probably are something to do with it. That said Trafford's numbers are lower than many other places with no restrictions in place.
I just hope that all boroughs are moving int he same direction and these rules don't end up being put back in place as they are very arbitrary IMO.

PiataMaiNei · 28/08/2020 16:27

Only with local authorities of the correct composition, of course!

x2boys · 28/08/2020 16:28

Well it's good that local restrictions are being lifted in Bolton as that's where I am ,I still can't visit my parents in neighbouring Bury though .
