To get a £20 meal for £10 you first need to have £10 to spend. The poor are not able to take advantage of this scheme. Neither are those with health issues who are still staying at home due to health concerns. It’s basically a discount for the middle class, and as such I have never agreed that it’s a good idea. I’ll be glad when it’s over.
My local cafe does a cheese or fruit scone with butter for £2 (now £1) and tea for £1.60 (now 80p). Its not just for the wealthy.
A happy meal is now £1.30 and a mcfluffy 50p. So people who couldnt usually afford to take the kids for a treat may be able to this month.
Besides this offer isnt supposed to be getting the people a good deal (although it's a nice side effect), it is designed to give a boost to the businesses and keep the (often low paid) staff in a job.
