I've posted before about how our media post misleading images of SD in schools. This is a fair reflection of what our senior schools will look like . Would you be happy being one of those people in the picture, with no mask?

@NoisyPeacock

Noisy the narrative I understand is that people are worried that by taking risks rather than having robust realistic plans it'll improve education and the ability to keep schools open.

There is risk associated with schools being open regardless of how it is managed. Whether it's bubbles of 15 or bubbles of 200, whether masks are worn or not, the fact remains that there are going to be people mixing and with that comes risk of infection.

I'm lucky to work in a superb school who have meticulous plans put in place, but those plans don't remove the risk, and when all things are considered I'm personally ok with that.

There's less risk with smaller groups hence why every other place in society numbers are limited, people SD and have to wear masks.

The schools don't have Covid secure walls that change the science - however much the government are hoping they do Grin

And I will add I'm very happy with what ds college have in place. It does have its downsides that ehcp can't be fully implemented with blended learning. Yeah it should be but we are all having to make changes and I've decided I can take on that responsibility for a year.

I'm also very pleased with their online service which will commence if bubbles shut. He will have his support via teams instead. We are using google home instead.

Our town has also only had 2 cases in 3 weeks.

But I realise not everywhere is as lucky and I worry for those students who won't get the same level of education.

My teens aren’t mixing as normal at all.

@Kitcat122

These threads just go round and round. Teachers don't want schools closed they want better safety measures. Schools look great on paper but we know at the moment it's not as safe as it could be.

I don't have a socal responsibility to put myself and my family in danger.

Do they look great on paper?

My teen isn't mixing as normal either. He spends his days indoors mostly. He talks to his mates online. His anxiety and depression has increased. Going back for him will be incredibly hard, his school have nothing in place because it's one of those old buildings. No staggering, no social distancing, and no hand washing stations outside classrooms.

The France thread is a great example. Doing a return drive through Europe, mixing with people at their final destination. Then when they come back let's hope the key worker isolates before going back to their cleaning job.

@IceCreamAndCandyfloss I meant lots of parents at my school have recieved nice positive letters so feel safe. When the reality of day to day school is completely different.

Those two interviewees could benefit from losing some weight. Neither of them look particularly healthy, especially the boy.
