I saw a headline earlier. Avoid kissing when having sex. It's all getting a bit silly now. How are they going to police that. Next it will be stay two metres apart. Or only in the open air. You couldnt make it up. What a farce.

This did make me laugh.

On a serious note though, it should be an entirely unnecessary suggestion.

It's only recommending it for people who don't live together. And, unless you live together or are in a support bubble (which is the same as living together as far as rules go), then you should be 1m+ apart at all times anyway so couldn't be having sex to begin with.

The advice is written by Terrence Higgins Trust, so I imagine is probably aimed at gay men having hook ups. Hook ups will still happen, so harm minimisation is over. This is pretty tame for gay sexual health messages, to be honest.

It is not suggesting that you wear a mask with your long term partner. It is not that ridiculous. It comes from a long history of harm minimisation in sexual health messaging where people know that people will have risky sex and try and make it a bit less risky.

It was a Terence Higgins trust suggestion they reported on. Crazy imho. I think it really was about new relationships and those who aren't monogamous! That said I came down with Covid 3 days after dp

The suggestion of using hand sanitiser first made me wince a little.

Some people pay good money for this sort of thing! Sounds dangerous to be honest. But perhaps the risk isn't just through face to face. I thought that at one point there was some suggestion that it can be transmitted both sexually and through the birth canal.

Seriously, the level of control the “they” are trying to enforce on us is getting unsettling now.
I thought that lockdown was horrific for single people or people who didn’t live with their partner, telling people they couldn’t have relationships, meet people, have intimacy.
It wasn’t on, and now this. FFS life has to go on. We need to get back to normal.
I know this is a lighthearted thread, and I’m sorry, but seeing this kind of stuff really upsets me.
