Could this be the start of covid?

So since Saturday I've had a really nasty migraine it was first on the right of my head and now it's in the left. It pounds when I bend down or move my head. I feel really run down, and my chest has been feeling a little tight which I've felt before in the past but put it down to acids reflux as I've been a sufferer of that past, but all these symptoms coupled together is making me worry it's the start of covid. I've been noticing my heart beat, as well like I can feel it beating in my chest when normally you wouldn't unless you exert yourself.

Also 4 of my children have complained of headaches that past 3 days too, my oldest told me it hurt to move her head today.

We've been in the house for 5 months, we've not been our anywhere, I've had all shopping delivered and left in my door step and wiped stuff down. The only person who I've had contact with is my ex when he's come to take the kids to his flat, and they've stayed in his flat and not gone anywhere. My ex isn't showing any symptoms even though he's of course had to work and visit his gf so am I being too paronoid in thinking it could be the start of covid?

Ok. If it helps someone who clearly has anxiety and is struggling I’m ok with telling her to lie in order to get a test.

You may not even each to their own

Getting help for anxiety would be the correct course of action. There is no other section of NHS testing that is done to appease someone with anxiety, what should Covid be the exception? Doctors refer patients onwards based on clinical need, which is what the questions are for, not because they have anxiety.

It's an absolute money waster suggesting everyone with anxiety overly Covid gets a test for them and their family. What happens when the test is clear and OP has a migraine next week? Another bunch of needless test?

DianaT1969 · 04/08/2020 00:12

People can get tests if they have no symptoms but have been exposed. If the OP has Covid she needs to know.

Thanks everyone

@brastrapbroken if it was just me with the bad migraines over the course of 3 days I'd think it's just anxiety/ hormones/ life but because 4 of my children are now complaining of the same things out of
The blue is what's made me think could it be the start of covid. That's what's worried me. The only other symptom is that we've all been sneezing, which I put down to pollen etc until we all
Got these headaches !

Do you have in your direct family or are you caring for vulnerable or elderly people? If not you sound a bit like those soldiers found hiding in the jungle years after the Vietnam war was over. Obviously the Coronavirus is far from over, but for most people life has gained some semblance of normality.

People are out - going to shops, restaurants, attractions, seeing friends, back to work, just with a lot of new measures in place. If you or your kids haven’t left the house, seen friends, been anywhere or done anything since March your headaches etc might be down to anxiety, or cabin fever. The virus is going nowhere, you can’t lock yourselves away forever, what are you going to do in six weeks time when they have to go back to school!?

inthedarkx · 04/08/2020 00:47

@chipsandgin I understand what your saying, but it's not easy when parks require public transport, other places require public transport. I don't think it's recommended to take children on teams and busses at the moment. I don't have family nearby, haven't seen my
Mum, gran or sister since feb, because just after that was lockdown and she doesn't live close. I have to get a 40 minute tram ride to hers and can't imagine doing that with children trying to social distance.
I will go for a walk with them tomorrow, maybe just around our area for now, just been worried about keeping distance with my 4 year old.

@Lysianthus

OP call NHs on 119. They’ll advise. And get the cm alarm. Good luck.
I called because I had a sore throat and headache and felt generally unwell. I was told she couldn’t book me in for a test without one of the three main symptoms.
innitbloodysuper · 04/08/2020 08:45

Hi OP, my 8yo has been complaining of terrible headaches, palpitations (she keeps telling me her heart has stopped...which it obviously hasn't), and feeling hot but no temperature. This has been going on for 5 days, but my daughter does have an autoimmune disease so I put it down to that. I rang the GP yesterday to have her bloods checked for anaemia (which she gets often) and they won't book her in as headaches and feeling hot are apparently symptoms, which I wasn't aware of. I know she would be very anxious at the drive in centre, so I've ordered a home testing kit which is due to arrive today. If that comes back negative, my GP will see her. Might be worth ordering them to put your mind at ease?

MaidenMotherCrone · 04/08/2020 09:04

You can get a test at a centre without booking. You are given a test registration card and you register the test yourself online/by phone.

We get people coming in Taxis to take tests. Is that an option Op?

Google Mobile Testing Unit near you Op. They allow walk ups. They are being rolled out across the country.

thewisp · 04/08/2020 09:06

Hay fever can give you banging headaches and make you feel drained, have a sore throat, heavy chest etc.

Don't order a pointless test to appease anxiety. Take antihistamines and see if that helps.

Ernieshere · 04/08/2020 09:35

OP I dont mean this unkindly at all, but if your ex has been going to work and seeing his girlfriend, it is really not worth you & the children staying in.

Flowers I hope you feel better soon.

Flaxmeadow · 04/08/2020 13:18

Apart from anything and not aimed at you OP but not ventilating a house can cause headaches anyway because you're breathing in stale air

I once stayed in a womens refuge where all the windows were sealed shut and the exterior doors hardly ever opened. Just about every single person in that place had banging headaches within hours of entering it. It wasn't gas because they had many checks.

Fresh air is vital to health

Lovemusic33 · 04/08/2020 13:28

Doesn’t really sound like covid, more likely caused by being stuck at home for so long.

Those saying “why is OP having a gas check when she doesn’t have gas”, I’m guessing OP has gas central heating? If so she needs a yearly gas check but should also have a carbon monoxide detector in the house (we do).

brastrapbroken · 04/08/2020 13:32

Those saying “why is OP having a gas check when she doesn’t have gas”,

I said this because OP said she had no gas appliances and the last one had been capped. Turns out she actually does have gas central heating.
