When is your school going back in September?

We've had info from school which has said the school won't be open until 14th September at the earliest and no further info.

When is everyone else going back? This is later than I had anticipated and I'm not 100% that they'll be back on that date either!

4th September year 10 reception 14th September but only 2 hours a day until October the 4th

Bluepolkadots42 · 18/07/2020 18:55

@hayfeverhellish

What kind of school is your DC's? Just wondering if it's a really tiny village school or something and maybe they have some issues with staffing which could cause a later start date?

Drivingdownthe101 · 18/07/2020 18:56

25th August, as planned. Reception starting a week later.

Flagsfiend · 18/07/2020 18:57

Staff 1st for inset days
Y7-9 3rd (staggered start times)
Y10-11 4th (staggered start)
Y12-13 7th (this was always the plan, they always start a few days later to allow for enrollment, it isn't covid related)

ilovemyrednosedaymug · 18/07/2020 19:00

Our secondary school is everyone back on 7 September as planned, (after 2 NPD on the previous Thurs/Fri), come hell or high water. No exceptions will be made, no learning will be set at home. Year bubbles, packed lunches, full uniform including blazer and tie.

The HT won't have standards slipping and I think nothing short of the end of the world will have him closing again Grin.

Keepdistance · 18/07/2020 19:05

No idea as we dint seem to have inset dates. Think its tues 1st sept. Which seems very early.

SimonJT · 18/07/2020 19:11

Usual start date, but no information about staggered start times and no information about wrap around carez

SparkyBlue · 18/07/2020 19:11

So far it's still 31st August

Boredsilly · 18/07/2020 19:12

7th September for Year 4

Mummyshark2018 · 18/07/2020 19:16

7th September as planned. Dates given a year ago.

BiBabbles · 18/07/2020 19:23

All different here -
DDs at secondary:
Y7: 4th of September, full day induction and then full days going forward
Y8-9: 7th of September half-day induction (9s in the morning, 8s in the afternoon), 8th first full day for both, staggered entry (7 & 9 at same time but different entrances, I guess they're considering the most likely sibling combinations).

DS (Y11) at college: 14th of September is their first week open, though we're not sure yet when his actual first day will be. We haven't gotten any information other than that.

Alex50 · 18/07/2020 19:24

10th September year 10, online lessons 8th and 9th September. The school sent a very detailed email explaining how it will be organised in September, my daughter had a meeting with one of her teachers who explained how SD will work and the one way system. No parents are allowed near the at drop off and pick up time.

safetosay · 18/07/2020 19:32

Primary 4th
Secondary 7th

Lindy2 · 18/07/2020 19:44

Primary 2nd. Secondary 3rd.

We haven't even broken up yet as they've still got another 2 and a half days to go. (Although I'm not sure we've got any home schooling strength left to get through them).

Our holidays seem a bit shorter than other areas this year.

hayfeverhellish · 18/07/2020 19:47

@Bluepolkadots42 it's a SEN school. I'm being overly sensitive I think. It's just another week or two really. It's just because my child had already been out of school for 2 years with no education and hasn't had any education over covid (home learning doesn't work), I was hoping for a fairly prompt start in September. He's not got any siblings or friends so school is the only contact he has with anyone. 8 weeks of further isolation and counting.....!

Sept 8, which is when we were always scheduled to go back.

Shieldingending · 18/07/2020 19:52

hellfeverhellish I teach in a special school, and our children are back on the third which is what we expected. I really can’t think of a reason for yours to be back so late? We are very aware that the Majority of our families will be absolutely desperate to get the children back in school!

canigooutyet · 18/07/2020 20:11

Secondary whole school back by 4th September. They will be in touch with more details once they have figured it all out.
La website says similar schools expected to open as usual, links to the guidance and schools will be in touch once they have worked things out.

I appreciate their honesty 🤣

loulouljh · 18/07/2020 20:17

3rd and 4th...

StrangeAddiction · 18/07/2020 20:21

My dc go to an all through school. Ds is in year 6 goes back 8th September. Starts 15 mins later, finishes 20 minutes early.
Dd year 8, 10th September normal start time finishes 10 mins early.

They got a one way system from the main gates up to the school and different classes/years have different gates with staggered break and lunch times.

wendz86 · 18/07/2020 20:43

3rd of September

Toastycornflakes · 18/07/2020 21:09

Reception child 7th sept full time and year 4 child in 3 days week of the 7th and in full time week of the 14th.

lorisparkle · 18/07/2020 21:42

My school is a special school and we have had to change the date of the insets because of the type of inset it was. This has meant we are starting back on 1st!!!

ohthegoats · 18/07/2020 22:57

I'm going back on 1st September - my class finishes half an hour earlier than now. because the school day has half an hour fewer breaks for them. All about staggered arrival and departure.

My child goes back on 3rd, same hours as pre-lockdown. Not all classes are going back to the same hours, to account for staggered arrival and departure.
