(In England, because that’s where I am)

Things still closed:
Bowling alleys
Swimming pools
Nail bars

Things you can’t do:
Be within a metre of someone not in your household/ bubble.

I have become very confused with the rules now! But think the list of things that you can’t do is probably shorter than what you can!

Can MN help with a list or direct me to an (easy to read) list somewhere?

I think your list is right. Your bubble however as far as I know can still only be with a single adult household to support them ( if you are in a couple which I’ve assumed) or of course there are bubbles at school. Your children if you have any also still need to distance from other children and I doubt soft plays and the like are open.

Dadnotamum72 · 05/07/2020 09:51

It is still 2 metres unless not possible then 1mtr+

You can meet 1 other household and stay overcat any one time.

Other things not open

Theartres
Kids play
Grassroots sports
Kids clubs like dancing etc

Whitegrenache · 05/07/2020 09:52

Can you meet friends for a meal in a restaurant?

foamrolling · 05/07/2020 09:54

Well going from some of the threads on here you can do anything as long as you tell yourself it's 'in a bubble'.

RufustheRowlingReindeer · 05/07/2020 09:57

Hugging family that don’t live in your house

Guylan · 05/07/2020 10:03

“Can you meet with friends for a meal in a restaurant”

Whitegrenache, gov link says if meal at the restaurant is inside you should not:

‘gather indoors in groups of more than two households (your support bubble counts as one household) - this includes when dining out or going to the pub’.

As dadnotamum72 says it’s either 2 metres or if that is not possible 1 m plus which means using mitigating measures such as a mask.

Don't think gyms are open yet.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 05/07/2020 10:05

Indoor skating rinks

Tanning salons

indoor fitness and dance studios
indoor gyms and sports venues/facilities
swimming pools
water parks
exhibition or conference centres - where they are to be used for exhibitions or conferences, other than for those who work for that venue.

Sorry, I should have said, that was a list of what businesses remain closed by law.

purpleme12 · 05/07/2020 10:08

It's so silly. Of course when they said we can all go indoors no one's now social distancing at all it was going to happen

Guylan · 05/07/2020 10:10

Sadly, true.
danni0509 · 05/07/2020 10:12

Boris on LBC the other morning said something about gyms re opening in a couple of weeks.

MabelMoo23 · 05/07/2020 10:16

I think you can only have a meal out with one other household

Dadnotamum72 · 05/07/2020 10:19

Regarding whats open and what isn't thats quite black and white ( bar councils and toilets/ playgrounds) this issue now is the the 2 households/ support bubble/ 1mtr/ 2 mtr etc etc part of the rules has got far to confusing for those unlike us who are actively trying to follow/ understand the rules, your average person that doesn't watch the briefings etc has no idea what they can/ should be doing and it is all getting mixed up and people doing whatever they think the rules are.

cantkeepawayforever · 05/07/2020 10:47

Nothing with live musical instruments is open for performances and no theatres:

  • No theatres,
  • No concert halls
  • No jazz gigs
  • No school concerts
  • No choirs, anywhere
  • No county music groups, of any kind
  • No rehearsals of any of those groups
  • No musical theatre shows
  • No dance schools
  • No dance performances
  • No face to face music lessons with wind instruments

As the parent of a Conservatoire student and a keen dancer, both looking at very empty futures (the conservatoire student is unlikely to go back in September, looking at all the current guidance), life is rather empty.

Quartz2208 · 05/07/2020 10:49

I watch the briefings and read and I still dont find it particularly clear not helped by different rules in England/Scotland/Wales/Northern Ireland

cantkeepawayforever · 05/07/2020 11:03

(Sorry, should have said that theatre buildings can be open - but no live shows. That's why they don't appear on the 'closed by law' lists, while still being closed for their main function)

Bbq1 · 05/07/2020 11:17

The government advice is not to eat at a restaurant indoors? Surely that can't be right when all the eateries are now open for eating in? My DB manages a restaurant situated in a huge complex with farm shop, cafe etc. They are opening at half capacity and have about 350 covers booked in for this weekend. I find that surprising because I personally wouldn't go near a restaurant or pub for a good while to see how things go. It's heartening though that people are happy to go out to eat as it helps the economy.

RedskyAtnight · 05/07/2020 11:35

If you are indoors you can only mix with one other household and must socially distance from them unless they are part of your bubble (so meeting multiple households indoors is still banned!)

Firef1y72 · 05/07/2020 14:32

Gyms are still shut.
Cannot meet up in groups bigger than 6 socially distanced outside to do an exercise class (despite being able to be in a pub with far more than 6, and being able to go to a wedding with 30)

Rinoachicken · 05/07/2020 14:44

See I don’t get the ‘can only meet with one other household indoors’

All the people in pubs last night - each household group may have only been talking/meeting up with one other household, but there are multiple households doing that in each pub/restaurant! So surely that’s more than two households indoors???!!!

palacegirl77 · 05/07/2020 16:49

Totally dependant on where in England you live. Our school won't accept Y1 or Recep - so for me school is closed. As are playgrounds. And grass roots sport. And swimming pools. But Adults can have a pint so thats O.K. Terrible state of affairs.

felineflutter · 05/07/2020 21:02

Any idea when vocational dance studios may reopen? My DS is seriously considering giving up, as 6 months out already, is too long and an uncertain future ahead.

girlofthenorth · 05/07/2020 21:28

@felineflutter look on the Royal academy of dance website , there is conflicting info at the moment and dance studios are still officially closed .
