Anyone? Obviously it's good to support local business, but long-term the point of going is for atmosphere and to socialise. Neither are really going to be possible under social distancing guidelines. I think the new normal will be going around to mates houses. No-one I know is planning on going out anytime soon. Maybe if we get good weather and there's a decent beer garden....what does everyone else think?

@Wynona it’s for the track and trace system in case anyone tests positive that you’ve been in contact with in the pub

Wynona · 03/07/2020 20:40

@Onesipmore I do want to go to the pub (don't we all), I just find the rules confusing. I don't want to take 2 weeks off if someone in the pub tests positive. I might not have been anywhere near them. Is there a link to the rules?

Uhoh2020 · 03/07/2020 20:44

I'm going to the local beer garden in the afternoon tomorrow it will be nice to see some familiar faces and chat. I've seen the lay out it looks different and lots of tape and arrows directing but I'm sure we'll get used to it. A new bistro was due to open as lockdown started that now opens this week I plan to try there at some point in the coming weeks. I've no plans to be heading into town or city centre to wine and dine but I rarely did that before hand. I'll be socialising supporting local businesses for the foreseeable

Figgygal · 03/07/2020 20:48

Nope dh wanted to take the kids to the tiny village pub And I said no

Everyone will go, we’ve had regular take always to support them I’m not in a rush to go this weekend

Wynona · 03/07/2020 20:48

@Uhoh2020 I agree. It is so important to support local businesses. I just need to really understand the rules behind track and trace. I cannot figure out how anyone can tell if I have been within 2m of someone. Everyone will need the toilet at some point? Would that count?

hamstersarse · 03/07/2020 20:49

Booked a restaurant for tomorrow night....curiosity more than anything 🤷‍♀️

Rockingthestocking · 03/07/2020 20:49

Tomorrow night at Miller and Carter and in the week at the local pub. Can not bloody wait.

Uhoh2020 · 03/07/2020 20:51

The names for track and trace really confuse me. If you test positive you give details of anyone you have been with 1m of for longer than 15mins. If tables are spread out so people are 2m plus then surely no one would need to be contacted apart from maybe serving staff. If you have shared your table with other households youd know there details anyway.

Wynona · 03/07/2020 20:53

@Rockingthestocking do you know the rules about track and trace? If someone in the pub tests positive does that mean that you have to stay at home for 2 weeks? I am finding it really hard to find clear guidance.

Wynona · 03/07/2020 20:56

@Uhoh2020 I thought it was just me Confused. If everyone has a couple of glasses of wine or beer eventually the toilet will be required. If just one person tests positive what does that mean for the everyone else?

CornishTiger · 03/07/2020 20:57

I am not keen tbh. I’m meeting friends next weekend for a socially distant picnic.

I’m not a scaredy-cat. I’ve worked all the way through lockdown apart from when I had covid. I know we need to get back to a new normal.

The thought of sitting in a pub and then having to self isolate if anyone within track and trace distance tests positive is not something I want to have to do. I would obviously but I’d rather not have to take time off work and school for a drink in pub.

I’d rather grab a coffee and chat with friend in park!

mightbealittlebitmad · 03/07/2020 20:59

I'll be asking the questions r.e. track and trace on Sunday when I go in for a meeting. From what I know already it's all been split into sections, our pub is huge so it wouldn't make sense to contact everyone but I do wonder why we need to contact if tables are spaced 2m apart.

Uhoh2020 · 03/07/2020 21:00

@Wynona the toilets in my local are strictly 1 in 1 out with hand sanitizer outside before you go in. It baffles me too, if I go to a restaurant and someone sat at the other side of the restaurant tests positive a few days later does that mean everyone who was in the restaurant at that time needs to isolate, or just people at the surrounding tables?

TinkerLilly · 03/07/2020 21:01

Not much doing here
Even the raucous party-central neighbours have just FB'd that they have their usual takeaway mini keg and are staying in this weekend
Our favourite local vinyl micropub has decided not to open as they are too small for effective distancing
I am on nights anyway 🙁

Madcats · 03/07/2020 21:01

Round here (touristy City, but minimal illness for weeks) the independents seem to have the view that they would rather carry on doing takeouts of beer and food than risk having people in to eat/drink and risk shutting their premises down for a fortnight.

We can meet more friends in 2x socially distanced groups in a park or field so that is what we will be doing (breweries round here do cask ale deliveries).

MarcelineMissouri · 03/07/2020 21:04

@Wynona my understanding is that track and trace (or whatever it’s called!) need to be able to contact people who could have had prolonged contact. If they got in touch with you they would ask you questions about your time in the pub and if you’re able to confirm that you were not close to anyone for longer than 15m other than the people you were there with then there would be no need to quarantine. It’s just about being able to track people in order to be sure, and then ask the appropriate questions to make sure you are not at risk.

GetUpAgain · 03/07/2020 21:04

Re. the track and trace, I think it will be a total mess. Like pp say, if you stay 2m apart from the other households in the pub, you shouldn't then need to isolate if someone got cv.

Pubs have been told toilets should be cleaned 'in line with usage', wtf does that even mean?! My guess is they will phone you, and if you went to the toilet during same time slot as cv person, (i.e. if it wasn't cleaned between them and you) tell you to isolate.

QueenBlueberries · 03/07/2020 21:04

I really fancy a nice cold beer at my local but we'll be going an evening next week. I think this weekend is going to be a bit mad, hopefully the novelty will wear off quickly and it won't be too crowded in the beer garden.

GetUpAgain · 03/07/2020 21:07

Also, I think this is less about contact tracing and more a back door way of making the population 'happy' with an app, and the government don't even need to create it themselves. Just piggyback on Greene King or whoever.

itsgettingweird · 03/07/2020 21:07

I'm hoping to be able to get a Sunday roast at the village pub on Sunday.

Walked past today and landlady was having a nightmare as something broke in cellar and beer order was late.

I live in the urban town village backs into. It has no shop - just the pub.

Cases in my county are 1 per 100k population. I want to support local business.

Ds and I will do the 4 mile walk we do and stop here on route if all goes to plan 😋

Wynona · 03/07/2020 21:10

What about if you visit two pubs? How about 4 pubs? Get a positive test does that mean all pubs, everyone in it all have to self isolate. It is madness.

Wynona · 03/07/2020 21:11

Do you think anyone has actually thought this through?

MarcelineMissouri · 03/07/2020 21:15

@Wynona that isn’t how it will work. The contact tracers will ask questions to determine where the risks might be. Provided distancing guidelines have been followed then there should be no need for people to isolate. They won’t just be telling everyone who was in the same pub to isolate. Indeed this should be something that encourages pubs and customers to make sure that they are distancing.

userxx · 03/07/2020 21:19

Tomorrow night at Miller and Carter and in the week at the local pub. Can not bloody wait.

Sounds bloody fantastic!

annabel85 · 03/07/2020 21:21

There will be plenty tomorrow, given the headlines, who'll see getting into the pub at 6am and staying out all day as a badge of honour.
