Just putting this out there .... but with the current toilet situation in pubs there is most certainly going to be an increase of pint glasses found with piss in. Poor bar staff ....

It took someone a second to write and will have been written by a junior civil servant. It's been deleted, there's no need to start a campaign to chase someone out of their job for one silly comment. Reduce your outrage bar, it must be exhausting.

AnyFucker · 02/07/2020 07:17

I am not seeing the problem Confused

ChampagneCommunist · 02/07/2020 07:22

No, me neither

chatwoo · 02/07/2020 07:23

Good news!

Oxyiz · 02/07/2020 07:24

I don’t see the issue on this one either, I was expecting something much worse from your post.

I don’t use pubs myself but some people are desperate for them to open again, and for life to start getting back to normal. And pubs want to get business going again. So a lot of people will celebrate when they open.

Twitter is a cesspit though, I wish governments would stop using it as a communication tool

StealthPolarBear · 02/07/2020 07:24

I don't think it was insensitive, and am surprised it was deleted.
It wasn't suggesting celebrating the fact people have died.

lombi · 02/07/2020 07:25

I dont see the problem either ?

MynephewR · 02/07/2020 07:27

Am I missing something? What was wrong with it?

Ducksurprise · 02/07/2020 07:28

I'd imagine for the treasury it is good news.

ihatethecold · 02/07/2020 07:28

Frothing at nothing.

LaurieMarlow · 02/07/2020 07:28

I don’t get it either

Littlebelina · 02/07/2020 07:29

Government agency suggests people might want to visit legally opened business which will bring them revenue shocker Hmm. Also failing to see the problem.

Letshavesometea · 02/07/2020 07:30

I dont see the issue either. Surely people want life to get back to some kind of normality, the hospitality industry including pubs is being destroyed and business and jobs are at risk

heyheyho · 02/07/2020 07:30

I really don’t get the frothing. Jesus, what has this world become?

HeresMe · 02/07/2020 07:31

It isn't insensitive, it's just somebody getting offended at nothing.

Also that person is chucking figures about how many have died, when there is no confirmation of that.

kitschplease · 02/07/2020 07:31

The graphics are a bit shit, but otherwise, meh

kinneddar · 02/07/2020 07:32

Cant see anything callous or insensitive.
But then I.dont generally go out my way to be offended

marriednotdead · 02/07/2020 07:34

I’d guess they’re hoping that 50k+ UK deaths (and still rising) will be forgotten once the pubs are open. It’s not going to be a celebration for the loved ones of those we’ve lost so the tweet is insensitive in the least.
Ughmaybenot · 02/07/2020 07:35

I’m really not seeing the issue.. are we not allowed to be happy about anything reopening now? Confused

marriednotdead · 02/07/2020 07:35

Sorry @Anyfucker for just quoting you, I’m a slow typer and others have said similar since.

Lindy2 · 02/07/2020 07:40

It wasn't in any way meant to be a celebration of lives lost. Everyone surely knows that. I can't get worked up about that tweet.

I'm not interested in going to a pub right now but I don't expect other people to have to be walking around in a state of mourning and not trying to get some normality back in their lives. I think everyone is inwardly sad enough right now. Having a drink in a pub doesn't mean they don't care about the people who have died.
