That's why I think our numbers are much higher. Do we know how many deaths have been people with no underlying issues? Ie. Cause of death was solely Covid? I'm not sure it's that easy to seperate. If DS got Clovid19 and died it would be the clovid 19 which killed him but he has acute cyanosis and is on perm o2 so he has an underlying condition. The underlying condition isn't fatal, terminal or life limiting but he's be a statistic that reassured most parents

Staying in lockdown to protect the medically vulnerable means continuing to fail the socially vulnerable, and I don't think it's fair to prioritise those at risk from c19 over those at risk from abusive parents.
I'd be interested to see what % of parents fighting to keep schools closed have medical vulnerable children rather than just being worried about their healthy child. Ime were very used to no concessions being made for our kids.

Everyone always just concentrates on death. What about those who have it mildly but are still quite ill months and months later. Are some children in this category?? I know some teanagers are.

@Rabblemum

What if your child came into one of these categories? Is it be ok if they died? Unbelievable.
It wouldn’t be ok. But they are no guarantees in life. Everything has a risk. Many children get many conditions. It’s just Covid is the latest thing at the moment so it’s highlighted.... Mental health is also a killer.

There’s no difference. We do have to live our life though. You could get knocked down tomorrow so could I!

Absolutely agree.

^This definitely. I'm in that position, though I wouldn't say it was mild as my DH ended calling 999 a couple of times when I had breathing difficulties (I'd never been close to having to do that before!). But yes, mild compared to those who need intensive care.

But I agree, there's an obsession with deaths, not taking in that it isn't just about that; there are a lot of us who didn't die but are having to cope with long-term symptoms. Still a minority, I know that, but nevertheless the impact upon us deserves to be taken into account.

There's probably been less child deaths from traffic accidents over the last few months than normally so it may be that lockdown has actually decreased child deaths for the last 3 months regardless of
The COVID.

"Died with" means any death where a person has tested positive for Covid

I don't even think they're recording them so much now.
My nana died with Covid. She tested positive twice after contracting it in hospital. When she died she was testing positive still. Her death certificate and records make no mention of Covid at all, just fragility of age. That was the end of last month.
