Luckily of no effect on me whatsoever. But imagine how they'll manage to keep all that data safe ...

I get it, and I find the 2 week thing daunting as well, I work in a restaurant. 4 months off is quite enough and I can’t get my head around how workable it’s going to be if the whole team working one evening has to take 2 weeks off because someone dined with us who turned out to have the virus.

Maybe it won’t be quite that strict... and those in semi-close contact will just be required to take a test?

BlueBrian · 23/06/2020 10:27

A lot of pubs might as well face reality now, they're going out of business, there's no way the vast majority will survive with these restrictions in place, it's over for them.

That would be a scientific nonsense
The incubation period ranges up to 14 days (though must people come down with it around 5-7 days) and that is why you need to quarantine for a fortnight after exposure.

No point in saying ‘negative at 4 days, free to go’ when you could still be brewing it up and then spreading it round

You need to do quarantine properly or not bother at all.

Seems to be work ok here, they just write down your name and number so that if anyone gets symptoms they can ring everyone that was there the same day.

They give their details. Joe buys the drinks, Fred sits at the table

If it’s like at home it’ll be table service only.

Fair enough - it might be the same here. I've also seen it suggested that staff will be telling people to stay at their own table and not move around talking to other people, etc. I'm still struggling to see how you identify who needs to isolate if a person tests positive and had been at a pub where (for example) 25 other people were present. I can't see how you can have anything except an all-or-nothing approach. I clearly need more coffee!

Why is it people in other countries are happy to do so. But of course us Brits winge and moan yet againHmm. A month ago we were moaning nothing was happening with lockdown easing.

If you give fake names numbers you are potentially responsible for Spreading the virus again. I really don't understand the issue?? Surely you give details for booking tables/ tickets normally? Nobody cries about it then. The business managers/ owners will have to act responsibly with that data as they normally would! If we want to help people's jobs and businesses it's only fair you act responsibly too. Furglough and shielding is ending people need their jobs and a wage. Far too many will be lost already. If you get a call, you book a test which should be back pretty quickly ( should but who knows if this is working as it should) and if it comes back negative your free to go about your business.

Yes there is a risk this could happen once we enter buildings were we are eating/drinking/haircuts for longer periods. We as individuals need to assess it in comparison to our lives. It's simple like others have stated just stay home if this is not for you. You have a choice.

iVampire · 23/06/2020 11:41

It’s just whining and meaning - remember the several threads here about how useless the national call for volunteers (generally) and for recent retired HCPs to return? Scores of posts about why it was such a flawed idea.

Meanwhile in RL the public response exceeded expectations

Astressedmumoftwo · 23/06/2020 13:35

I'm 27 this year and have never not been id'd. Just another day for me

Well, my friend works in a large supermarket and this is exactly how it works when a colleague tested positive. Negative test and back to work.

So potentially!

holidaydisaster2020 · 23/06/2020 16:15

@holidaydisaster2020 do you honestly not believe there are people who havent come out yet? The poster did not say they personally believed being gay should be a secret.

Of course there are people who haven't come out yet, however I go to Gay pubs/clubs etc on a regular basis and they're full to the brim with people who are happy to be seen there. Including straight people who think it's a good night out. The PP assertion that people going to LGBT bars won't want to give their details for "obvious" reasons implies that she sees it as some sort of a dirty little secret..... which is silly and offensive in this day and age.

Why is it people in other countries are happy to do so. But of course us Brits winge and moan yet again*

Completely agree with this. Pubs need your details before you go in.... supply details, go in. Why the need for so much angst?
