Barber complaining about footballers' suspiciously professional hair cuts.

If he says they look professional then I suppose he knows, but I don't think men's hair is all that difficult and the wives/girlfriends have had weeks to practise. We bought clippers and comb attachments and admittedly the first go on DH was a bit ropey but the second time I tried it came out pretty well. He does a lot of work Zoom calls and some people thought he'd managed to get a professional cut (although to be fair they might have been looking at him in a very small portion of their screens). There are lots of YouTube videos and a fade (which is what a lot of the footballers seem to have) is actually very straightforward.

I'm not even very nimble fingered or artistic and make a bit of a mess of doing my own make up, so I imagine that footballers' other halves who are usually very into personal grooming would be naturally pretty good at doing hair.

I need a cut and my roots done Im a brunette with long thick hair. I could never do it myself. The hairdresser i go to is a family business.

I don’t really get why there’s an article solely about footballers; when many TV/News presenters have been looking very well groomed for weeks now; and Politicians are looking smart as well.

Marcus Rashford hasn't looked like he's been having his hair professionally cut recently. Some twat on twitter in response to him tweeting about free school meals said to him: 'go cut your hair'. Marcus replied something like 'I have more important things on my mind'. I love that guy! 😍

The clubs have probably employed an official club barber an the staff to do haircuts for the whole team.

Lewis Goodall from Newsnight hasnt either. And neither has a young bloke who does the weather on BBC1 I dont know his name.

I don't know why people often dislike being given facts.

London went into tier 4 the same time as Essex did so salons were forced to close again on 19th December. A lot of the celebs being discussed here live in the former. I live in the latter.

Footballers live all over the country. It was stated that they shut in England on 16th, it just seemed very London centric to state that.

I wonder what these 'underground hairdressers' talk about with clients.

They can't ask if they're going anywhere nice for their holidays, can they?

If they have a barber as part of the team it is fine
A friend of mine works with a professional team (not football) and they are still working with them and travelling- not a hairdresser but similar.

I have noticed some roots coming through again on some of the women and Mary Porter was brilliant last year with her grey roots.

There was a massive queue outside one of the many many barbers in town the night before lockdown 2 and they were open until midnight on 19th December. Men's hair is so high maintenance these days

Is it definitely illegal to pay someone to do your hair? I mean you can pay a cleaner and a workman to go round your house. That’s like doing my hair :)

Yes I don't understand th at. Hairdressers must be a specific exemption as you do have to get so close

@MercyBooth 100% agree with this. My salon was running at very low capacity, temp on arrival, cleaning every time I stood up almost and wearing mask and visor. Felt safer there than doing a weekly shop. They and a lot of other salons spent time and money making themselves covid secure, highly unlikely spread was happening there just to be forced to close again twice now! Don’t know how much longer they can put up with it especially when there are celebs getting hair cuts etc it’s a joke. I’m in Scotland so everything has been closed since Boxing Day

I know a hairdresser who has done the hair of at least three premiership footballers (all same club) in this lockdown. 🤫
