Barber complaining about footballers' suspiciously professional hair cuts.

If he says they look professional then I suppose he knows, but I don't think men's hair is all that difficult and the wives/girlfriends have had weeks to practise. We bought clippers and comb attachments and admittedly the first go on DH was a bit ropey but the second time I tried it came out pretty well. He does a lot of work Zoom calls and some people thought he'd managed to get a professional cut (although to be fair they might have been looking at him in a very small portion of their screens). There are lots of YouTube videos and a fade (which is what a lot of the footballers seem to have) is actually very straightforward.

I'm not even very nimble fingered or artistic and make a bit of a mess of doing my own make up, so I imagine that footballers' other halves who are usually very into personal grooming would be naturally pretty good at doing hair.

I cut my husband's hair the other day after watching a Youtube video. You would think he had been to the Barbers. It's actually very easy

TigerDroveAgain · 21/06/2020 09:01

Well DS has been cutting his own hair and it looks amazing and professional. He’s not going to bother with barbers for the foreseeable. He has a footballer type cut.

But these young privileged men are an easy target for criticism. I watched one of the matches yesterday and thought it was interesting how many of them had shaved their heads or had obviously grown out their hair

Itsjustabitofbanter · 21/06/2020 09:06

Im in liverpool and there’s hairdressers and nail salons by me that have been open throughout lockdown. No one really cares here and no ones getting prosecuted. There’s even pubs that have stayed open, you just go in through the back door (tbf a few of these have been caught out and fined).

FluffyKittensinabasket · 21/06/2020 10:43

I’m sure the Royals have also got dental care throughout this as well as haircuts!

kingkuta · 21/06/2020 10:46

I'm also in Liverpool Itsjustabitofbanter and by me there have been no hairdressers open, no nail bars, no pubs or bars except for takeaway. I work so see alot of people. Noone has had their hair done and noone has the attitude that they dont care

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 21/06/2020 10:57

How can you be sure of that?

GrimDamnFanjo · 21/06/2020 10:59

I laughed at some of the Liverpool players in training who obviously hadn't had their hair done! Bobby Firminios hair was a mass of curls!
Will be interested to study more closely later today...

Oliversmumsarmy · 21/06/2020 11:17

Dd did her brother and her dads hair.

It doesn’t look any different to how they normally have their hair done at the hairdressers.
Someone was on FB showing the results of electric dog clippers on her brothers hair.

It didn’t look any different to how a barber would have done it.

Think barbers and hair dressers are in for a hard time now people have tried and succeeded with getting their hair done for free

Is that why the figures in the NW are not falling

FluffyKittensinabasket · 21/06/2020 11:37

The Queen isn’t going to be left in dental pain is she?

Oliversmumsarmy · 21/06/2020 11:47

I thought you could get an emergency dentist if you were in pain

I thought A&E dealt with this

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 21/06/2020 11:50

my NHS dentist saw me this week - I needed my crown to be re-cemented after an incident with a boiled sweet. They're not doing routine work and check-ups, but are seeing people who need treatment, even if like me they're not in pain.

ssd · 21/06/2020 11:52

Op, don't tell me a fade is easy!!!
My sons would disagree, I've tried itConfused

FluffyKittensinabasket · 21/06/2020 11:56

I was led to believe they aren’t doing work requiring aerosols. They can do temporary fillings.

But even in the height of lockdown, I can’t believe that Kate, Charles, the Queen etc would be left crying in pain from their mouths like so many Mumsnet posters have been.

ChubbyPigeon · 21/06/2020 12:02

The queen probably didnt need dental treatment.

If she did shes hardly gonna turn up at a dental hub is she?

Browzingss · 21/06/2020 12:05

Lots of celeb women (and influencers) got their hair professionally done during lockdown

One influencer had a full colour touch up (dark roots are now platinum blonde) and extensions fitted so would have been in the salon for several hours. Both the influencer and the salon posted, so they were trying to be discreet either

WithIcePlease · 21/06/2020 12:16

I know a barber who has had cars sent to him through lockdown to transport him to various premiership footballers and their families so it's probably widespread

Fortyfifty · 21/06/2020 12:23

We know of underground driving instructors too. Rural locations, lessons continued on private land, paying double.

feelingverylazytoday · 21/06/2020 12:30

And some gyms have stayed openly, allegedly.

Itsjustabitofbanter · 23/06/2020 10:19

@kingkuta well you obviously aren’t by me then. Though wherever you are in Liverpool you must have heard about the raves going on every weekend, seen the pictures of the hundreds of people sat getting pissed in town, plus the public viewings and street parties during the derby two days ago. Everyone I knows been going to old swan to get their nails and hair done

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 23/06/2020 15:12

I had to admire the hair of a politician yesterday, looked really fresh and sharp for someone who hasn't had their hair done in three months.

JanewaysBun · 23/06/2020 19:53

Most probably are professional.
There is one lady on Instagram who is married to a footballer (but not prem league may be?) Who used to be a hairdresser and showed herself cutting her husband's hair. She's probably the only one though!

Wendyb24 · 10/02/2021 21:02

I am a barber of 30 + years. I can honestly tell you that a skin fade is the most difficult mens haircut and if any one should think that to watch a video you can do this they are so wrong . These footballers are totally in the wrong and should be not only fined but sacked for having lock down haircuts. Let's face it fines for them or their barbers are nothing to them and they will pay off the barbers too.. sack them

MercyBooth · 10/02/2021 22:58

I was looking at Fiona Bruces hair while watching QS last week. Amazing non growing fringe. Hairdressers in England closed on 19th December.

People are starting to get fed up about this. A beauticians post was shared onto my fb by my hairdresser. She posted how it was working class womens businesses suffering and working class womens confidence being affected by looking and feeling scruffy while ppl like Holly get their hair done.

MercyBooth · 10/02/2021 22:59

@Wendyb24 one got fined £200 Thats like fining me 2p. We are NOT all in this together. They should be fined time rather than money so community service
