Can you get covid symptoms 3 weeks after recovering?

Just wondering - probably didn’t have it 3 weeks ago but am wondering if you can get the same/similar symptoms 3 weeks later after recovering.

There are 4 if us at home all had the same thing 3 weeks ago and now we have gone back again but in varying degrees - in particular with tummy pains..

Long tail covid?

My ds had this. Symptoms in late February, fever, headache, sore throat, aches, no appetite. He was ready to call an ambulance on day two. He was ok after a week. 4 weeks later the cough started and he lost his sense of smell/taste.
I have read other people’s stories that are similar.
He still has a cough now but nowhere near as bad as it was in March.

Never heard of long tail covid!
We never had a cough but the temp, sore throat aches and pains bad head tummy pains nausea etc.
Do you think it can be tested for this second time or did I miss the boat (did send off for one but it took a week to get here so I didn’t take it)

There is a thread on MN for people still suffering after 3 months, OP. About 10% of patients have a very prolonged illness, with cough, palpitations, muscle pains, fatigue, sore throat, excess chest secretions and breathlessness, continuing for months. We don’t know the long term outcome as this is a new disease.

Get tested. Turnaround is pretty quick now.

I will say I was completely recovered for a few weeks but it has come back with a vengance!

Sorry for the drip feed - it hasn’t been continuous it’s like a gap then back again. My dd isn’t well with headaches too and my dh and ds have tummy pains etc but I have all but the cough

I am not sure how accurate the test would be at this point

I'd be interested to know this too. Last weekend I was laid up with sickness and nausea for two days. I had a bit of a temperature in the evening and had felt achey briefly too. A week on, after getting mostly better, I'm getting stomach pains in the night and appetite fully hasn't returned. We didn't think COVID at first, as it was stomach issues... but the more I read, the more possible it could have been and I'm going to try to get tested today.

I’m scared of the test as I know it will hurt so I’m not keen on trying if it’s not relevant now. We haven’t been anywhere to pick anything up as we have online shopping and haven’t been out but yes it could be something else. I feel exhausted too and ache. How do you know where to get a test? My dr sent me to a giv website before hence me sending off for one which arrived too late - how do you know where else to get one?

the test does not hurt imo, i took it yesterday however my result may yet prove to be void
why do you think the test hurts?

Due to the shoving it to the back of your nose / throat and bad memories of when I had a camera shoved up my nose for a throat problem once

I am dreading this happening. A friend of mine is ill again. Couldn't get tested in the beginning, but this time they have all tested and one came back positive. All have same symptoms.

I had it in the beginning and I thought once again my time was up. Symptoms went about 6 weeks ago and since then I've been on various antibiotics for chest infections, and my steroid use has increased, migraines, ringing ear, stomach problems, and bone pain have all intensified (I do also have underlying health problems)

Op, it may not have fully cleared from the first time you think you had it. It could have been lingering, slowly under the surface. I got it before lockdown. I still have symptoms now.

I have rang the dr to see what they say so will update. I’m wondering if the test would show anything thank you for saying it doesn’t hurt I will go if they say it would show something!

The throat swab is very quick and hardly noticeable, the nose takes longer and I won’t lie I found it uncomfortable but it’s quick! 3 seconds and done.

The only thing I will say is when I had mine done (via work at the beginning on April) I was told it had to be between day 3-5 of symptoms. It could easily be another bug, there’s plenty more out there. I had symptoms in March, got better, wasn’t tested as it was before lockdown and wasn’t eligible, then second week of April my cough came back along with other symptoms. My test was negative but i was isolating again and ended up being signed off anyway for 4 weeks. Still have a slight cough now. Had a negative antibody test too last week as I work for the NHS and they’re testing all of us. I know they’re not 100% accurate but I think after having both negative, I’ve accepted it wasn’t covid!

The test is painful if they do it properly. It’s not a swab, it’s a deep mucosal puncture of the sensitive lining of your nose. I’ve had two, and they were both excruciating. It was repeated by the doctor in the Covid unit when I was hospitalised, as he said the nurses weren’t stabbing hard enough and they were getting a lot of false negatives.

@babdoc does it cause bleeding if your sinuses are a bit sensitive? I wondered if that would void the test. Were all your test results as expected?

Phew! The dr rang and said there is no point in me having one. I have to be honest and dh works in a sector where he said if it doesn’t hurt it’s not done properly as he said the same it has to be done so far up otherwise it wouldn’t be accurate and thinks especially home testing is not very good.

Anyway dr said she thinks we are very typical of people who are having covid in waves. Said this could last for months and that it is not uncommon for it to come and go.
My dd who has described her headaches to be vertigo earlier to me today - the dr said some people are getting vertigo.
Stomach problems and pains too.
So we have to just watch for any breathing problems but hopefully be ok in a few days but then symptoms may keep coming back.

I have had this cyclical symptom thing too since April with joint pain, fatigue, headaches, abdominal pain too, but my antibody test came back negative. I didn't get swabbed.😷
