I have been offered the antibody test through work and I am having it tomorrow. I've never had any symptoms but will the test anyway. Has anyone had the test and had antibodies even though had no symptoms

Had the venous antibody test last week and found positive

Had mild symptoms with no cough/temp or breathing difficulties 7 weeks ago so not too surprised

I didn't get a swab test at the time and carried on working throughout (frontline nhs)

ComtesseDeSpair · 23/06/2020 09:22

Positive venous test a couple of week ago. I either had it with all the “classic” symptoms when I thought I did - back in late Jan/early Feb and therefore supposedly far too early for this to have been the case - or I’ve had it completely asymptomatically at some point since because I’ve not had so much as a sniffle since lockdown began.

BBCONEANDTWO · 23/06/2020 11:31

Do they offer this to all NHS staff in the UK our trust has never even mentioned it.

Samsen · 23/06/2020 11:32

Yes I’ve had it through work and it came back negative.

LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 25/06/2020 13:32

I think it started officially this week? We're doing ours this week, all NHS should have access by now.

NewChapter11 · 26/06/2020 08:59

Unfortunately I've just had a negative Abbott test emailed back to me. My breathing still hasn't recovered from whatever I had at the end of March, so I'm left feeling pretty anxious.

Dugup · 26/06/2020 09:02

DH had it as he was a participant in a research study. Came back negative which was disappointing.

ChestyNut · 26/06/2020 09:05

NHS staff, no symptoms, negative antibody test.

We’ve been told we’ll be tested monthly

maddy68 · 26/06/2020 09:10

I had one and was so surprised to find it was negative. I was convinced I had had it earlier in the year

WokeUpSmeltTheCoffee · 26/06/2020 10:17

I had one via the vaccine study.

Am frontline NHS, not on Covid ward but have cared for patients later found to have coronavirus. Did have PPE.

I had a week off work (which is the 1st time in years) early on with some odd symptoms mainly dizziness but no cough or temp. I initially thought it was unlikely but then seeing that many people who were +ve had odd atypical symptoms I started to wonder.
Anyway clearly it was something else.

WokeUpSmeltTheCoffee · 26/06/2020 10:19

Our Trust has started to offer staff tests but very limited numbers and all the slots got snapped up very quickly. I think they should have prioritised them but it was 1st come 1st served.

WishUponAStar88 · 26/06/2020 10:23

I got one through work a few weeks ago and was positive for antibodies with no symptoms. It doesn’t make much difference though as there’s no proof that you can’t get it more than once yet.

Ponoka7 · 26/06/2020 10:31

My friend was part of the research. She did her test this week, you get results within 15 minutes, lines like a pregnancy test. She has antibodies. She can remember having cold like symptoms and her toddler having asthmatic symptoms through the night, for a few nights. She was going to have his inhalers looked at, but he was over it in around four days. She thought her baby was teething, at the same time, but looking back that could have been Covid.

Hormonecrazyhell · 26/06/2020 23:40

Are all you who are getting positive tests getting igg and igm?

AnneBullen · 26/06/2020 23:42

Yes, had symptoms around the peak but PCR negative. I never cough and sit next to someone who tested positive the same week so half thought I’d had it anyway but antibody test was negative.
