Back to work, don't feel safe, risk assessment

We have been working from home and going into the office on a rota basis, so only minimal people in the office at one time so we are able to social distance.

Anyway, manager has said we are all back in next week. When we are all in there are 15 people packed into our office. We are squashed and there is no way a safe distance between us. We are facing each other. If who I am facing coughs or sneezes it will be on to me.

What can I do about this, I don't feel safe but don't want to make a big fuss about it any advice?

@BeltaneBride are you kidding? It's the public sector who didn't have any option of furlough, whilst the private sector have latterly taken a 3 month holiday (my husband included). We also do fairly similar jobs - he still got paid more than me when being paid 80% than I did for working 100%.

@imwatchinyou I guess it's just hard to comprehend that people need a handhold for everything, surely the first thing anyone would do would be to speak to your manager rather than come on a messageboard and ask a load of random people to point out the glaringly obvious.

everyone else isn't "getting on with real life" and if you are then you have not been following the rules.

Plenty of people have been working throughout outside of the time.

I think the approach you need to take is asking why you can't carry on as you were, on a rota with a mix of working in the office & at home, if it was working before why the sudden need to change?

I'm public sector, been working all of my hours from home whilst caring for my small child as I'm not eligible for furlough.

@Pacmanitee I have been working the whole time also, albeit from home. But I still haven't been "getting on with real life" a lot has changed and adjustments made. @Pacmanitee you sound like one of them, who are jealous of people who were furloughed

Also I'd love to get back into my workplace and for DS to go to nursery (even though we're a vulnerable household) but my work place is closed and probably won't be open until July/August.
So I continue to wfh, pregnant, sitting on a spare bed working getting back ache (in welfare btw, so I'm busy)

Sick of the way the public sector are painted. I was in the private sector for years, got a huge bonus every year and didn't work any harder than I do now for less money. Silly me taking a less well paid job thinking I was making a difference.

The penny never drops, does it - a healthy respectful workplace creates healthy respectful employees. People who are treated well tend to be more productive, able to make confident delicious and learn faster.

The ‘let’s punish ourselves and others into a hole’ mentality of brits is embarrassing.
A previous poster was right, it really is a race to the bottom, and all that lies there is resentment and discontent.

I was asked to return. No problem doing so. The risk assessment was included in the email except did not mention the shared kitchen and bathrooms. I pointed this out and got an angry email back that biss was dissatisfied with my negative response.
