DP refuses to isolate

Spied · 18/05/2020 19:23

Last couple of days I've felt unwell.
Quite short of breath and terrible chest and upper back aches intermittently. I've also a dreadful headache, horrible taste in my mouth and a dull toothache.
I live with anxiety.
DP refuses is isolate saying there's no way it's coronavirus and my symptoms are all because of my anxiety and the way I've laid with regard to my back, stress etc.
I really struggled today even making my DC their lunch and keeping things ticking over.
I'm at the end of my tether.
How can I make him see sense or am I overreacting?

I would want one of you to call 111 for advice. It could be cv or something else. Order a test for yourself.

HappyHammy · 18/05/2020 19:29

Whatever he thinks you are clearly feeling poorly and struggling. I think you should seek medical advice and worry about him later. Are you isolating yourself. He should be helping you. Has he been going out.

LynetteScavo · 18/05/2020 19:31

You should get tested they'll you'll know what action is for the best.

SudokuBook · 18/05/2020 19:32

Do you have the symptoms that mean you have to isolate? I thought it was cough, temperature or loss of smell/taste.

ButteryPuffin · 18/05/2020 19:33

Have you phoned 111? He should be taking over with the kids. Is he their dad?

SummerHouse · 18/05/2020 19:34

I would isolate myself for those symptoms but without a cough or high temp I would call 111 before deciding if the rest of the family should isolate. Anxiety can have horrendous physical symptoms and 111 might be able to offer help on that front. Flowers

DianaT1969 · 18/05/2020 19:40

Go online and order a test.

Spied · 18/05/2020 19:48

Yes he's their Dad.
He's been going to work and insists he's not staying off.
I've no cough. Temp 37-37.5.
I think 111 will be the way to go but I still very much doubt DP will take any notice. That's my worry.

@SudokuBook

That's what dp is saying.

You don't mention having any of the symptoms which would require you or him to self isolate?
Why are people saying "order a test"? Surely that's not possible unless a key worker is involved?

greenlynx · 18/05/2020 19:52

So, it’s not that he doesn’t want to isolate as such but rather he doesn’t want to stay at home looking after children when you are unwell?

SunflowerSeedsForever · 18/05/2020 19:52

Anyone over 5 can have a test.

SunflowerSeedsForever · 18/05/2020 19:54

He's been going to work and insists he's not staying off.

Why would he need to?
Can you afford for him to take unpaid time off? Unpaid parental leave needs to be in blocks- not random days.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 18/05/2020 19:55

You don’t need the cough, OP. The lucky lady next door was extremely ill in hospital for a week, with COVID19 and didn’t so much have the hint of a cough. It’s a persistent cough and/OR a temperature. Your partner is a selfish, stupid wanker and is putting lots of people at risk. I would phone his workplace and inform them that you have symptoms. They might send the tear home. Tough shit if he doesn’t like it. People like him are the reason we’re still on lockdown.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 18/05/2020 19:56

Get yourself a test.
All stay home until you have your results.
Get well soon op.

HappyHammy · 18/05/2020 20:09

With shortness of breath, chest and back pain, headache why dont you call 111 anyway. It might not be cv but you should seek medical advice.

Spied · 18/05/2020 20:14

I definitely think not wanting to look after the children is part of it.
The money isn't too much if an issue.
If I ordered a home test I'd have to wait a few days?
I just wish dp would take this seriously.
I asked if he would take me to the drive through testing plant but I got an eye-roll and a 'No, don't be daft!'

TerrapinStation · 18/05/2020 20:18

Order a test and find out. I'm sure loads of people are saying they have symptoms to get one, the numbers testing positive are really low, it's unlikely you have it unless you know you've been in contact with someone who has.

All normal illnesses haven't gon away

Northernsoullover · 18/05/2020 20:20

My friend is a nurse who tested positive and had no respiratory symptoms at all. Order the test.

Spied · 18/05/2020 20:20

I think 111's the way to go really.
I hate wasting their time though as I'm pretty sure they will say to isolate.
And I'm pretty sure dp will refuse.
That's my problem.

OP posts:
DianaT1969 · 18/05/2020 20:24

Forget about your DP. If you've already caught it then crack on with finding out. Anyone over 5 years can get a test. When you go online you can choose to have it sent or go to a test centre. Either way you won't have the result for a few days.
Yes, it's a shame if you have it and he catches it from you, but that's a lot of ifs and you don't appear to have the main symptoms.
Your posts are all about your DP. Concentrate on your own health and good hygiene.

Spied · 18/05/2020 20:27

I'm going to order the test and if I still feel like this tomorrow I'll call 111.
If we need to isolate I think I'll call dp's workplace to give him the news.
He will have to listen then.

Lifeisabeach09 · 18/05/2020 20:28

You're wasting their time. The purpose of 111 is help people who are ill.
I'd tell your dickhead partner you've called 111 and they've advised you to book a test online.

The more people who test, the better.

Lifeisabeach09 · 18/05/2020 20:30

**sorry. You ARE NOT wasting their time...

DianaT1969 · 18/05/2020 20:31

Won't you see your DP in the evening after you get your test results? In a few days. You can discuss it when he is home. If you have it, he'll need to quarantine and get a test, but you're a few steps from that.
