Jobs already going

Private dentist I used to work at is already making redundancies after having no income for months and there being no end in sight.
Anyone else feel like this might be worse than the recession for job loss?

Recruitment consultants are more desperate than ever. Every single day I am harassed by them and their nonsense phone calls. GO AWAY. Some of us have ACTUAL work to do.

Well in 3 months time you might find almost 20k people losing their jobs when TfL runs out of money.

I read somewhere that up to 7m jobs could be at risk in the UK. There is no doubt that at least 4m will go. Companies have been closed for long not all have cash flow. When they are asked to contribute from August will we see a spike in redundancies? It is likely. Other companies are also monitoring years worked. So when they see someone approaching a certain number of years they might be more likely to be redundant e.g. if worked there less than 2 years I don't think redundancy payment is required.

It is a very difficult time. Lots of stories of people who earnt a lot before but now have lost a lot and are on Universal Credit. From my experience, I have seen lawyers, finance workers, Accountants being laid off. It is happening everywhere. I myself wonder if I will be next as the company I work for is still closed and uncertainty looms.

Prayers and thoughts to those in difficulty whether it be health or financially.

And a shit load more when nobody in London can get to work! They will never let that happen, hence Khan can hold the government to ransom.

The bailout has government officials on the board who are reviewing the tfl structure and finances, they have removed Khans decision making power in this way why do you think the freeze on fares has now been swept away.

There will be redundancies as revenue will not be same as before and a structure review always results in loss of jobs.

My boss has paid about 50k in wages so far , not had any money to cover this yet it’s very worrying

Schools need to open soon

I'm an employment lawyer with many clients in oil and gas who now are having to think about redundancies across their business, particularly those with US parent companies.

Aside from that, a few hospitality clients making small changes/letting casual staff go, but nothing substantial as yet.

Watch this space with full details of the furlough scheme post July is announced though. Given the collective consultation period is lengthy, things will likely kick off in the coming weeks as employers prepare for a post-furlough country
