According to Sky News if you have diabetes, dementia or chronic pulmonary disease you are at high risk of dying from Covid-19.

They can't clarify whether it is type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

@jellybeanz1212 Flowers

Nothing worse than a night time crash! Are you feeling better?

I've got loads of DIY to do and stuff outside in the sun which I'm dreading as it will mean hypo after hypo! We never just get a few hours off do we Sad

Live in hope that one day they'll make a breakthrough, even if we just have to take a few tablets in the morning or something, our quality of life would just be so much better. You never know!

I wish type 2s could swap with us for just a few days, honestly I like to think they would realise how lucky they are to have any modicum of control over their diabetes and want to change it. But I doubt it Sad

Typical, nobody can be bothered to spare a thought for those with MODY diabetes. So far beneath anyone's radar we haven't even had a kicking on this thread. I'll sit quietly with the T2s.

Wolfgirrl · 21/05/2020 20:06

To be fair I didnt even know it existed until I just googled it! So I wouldve spared a thought if i had known!

Thanks Wolff that was a very toungue in cheek post by me. Fair play to all the T1s, I've been on insulin briefly and while it had a few upsides (tighter control and being able to eat more) you're having to manage some scary risks. Diabetes is a crap condition to have.

I wish that awareness of MODY was much higher. I probably had it for 10 years at least before diagnosis and no doctor or nurse ever tested, despite me always reiterating strong family history of diabetes. I was told categorically by one doctor that it was 'impossible' I was diabetic despite having high blood sugars on a hospital visit.

As for Corona, am just trying to stringently social distance (which seems to still be the advice for at risk but not highly vulnerable) and will do so for as long as possible.
