How is Year 2 not important?!?

How the hell is Year 2 less important than year 1 or foundation? Massive transition to do to KS2, usually in a different building etc. They’ve already missed so much valuable education time plus socialisation is really key at this age. Devastated for all the 6/7 year olds. I’m putting in a complaint to DfE tomorrow and I encourage all other year 2 parents to do the same.

There won’t be the staff for other groups if dicial distancing continues. They’re going to need triple the numbers of staff and space for all year groups unless they go on to give each year group 2 days each.

Year six is an obvious choice as they deserve there end of term, leaving school celebrations as much as possible.

Sunshine, those sorts of things will not be happening, ffs!

My dd in year 2 is in an infant school as well so this is her last year. I am hoping she will at least be able to go in and say bye to her teachers and the school before she moves on. It makes me sad that her time at her lovely school ended the way it did but there is not a lot that can be done about it.

What does worry me about infant and junior schools is that the current plan wants the infants to take 2/3 of kids in straight away where the juniors which is a much larger building with more space will only have 1/4 of kids in!

Unless you have a middle school transitioning to year 3 is not a big deal.
I suspect years 2 and 3 will follow a week or so later and then years 4 and 5.
They are doing reception and year 1 first because they are hardest to teach remotely and most vulnerable to neglect.
Keep your hair on.

Also they are ramping up the schools gradually rather than asking them to take everyone at once.

PM has just said that he aims (subject to good progress) for all primary pupils to be in school for a month before the summer holidays.
