Is it okay to travel to a private swimming pool?

20 mins away, would stay there longer than travel time to exercise. It’s a private pool with nobody else there. Feels odd as I’m just used to walking and cycling in the lockdown! Is this okay?

KingJarvis · 09/05/2020 22:21

Yes, it’s exercise

TinRoofRusty · 09/05/2020 22:22

Go, yes.

Clemmieandareallybigbunfight · 09/05/2020 22:23

Go twice Grin

Wash your hands and enjoy yourself

Dogsandbabies · 09/05/2020 22:23

Of course you can. Ignore the weird keyboard warriors of Mumsnet. You are going to exercise and have a break. Go and have fun!

Samtsirch · 09/05/2020 22:24

No it’s NOT okay.
Because it’s not fair.
I want a private swimming pool 😁

mondaywine · 09/05/2020 22:24

Please tell me the address of the private mystery pool and my swim mad daughter will be right there.

clary · 09/05/2020 22:25

He yes, pleas go for those of us who love to swim. I honestly think it's the thing I'm missing most. The chlorine will kill the virus, don't listen to the pp who said it will be spread in the water.

Samtsirch · 09/05/2020 22:27

“Fanny about in the pool “
🤣😂🤣

Janaih · 09/05/2020 22:32

Go directly to the private swimming pool! Do not pass go do not collect £200 Grin

Random452 · 09/05/2020 22:43

How private is it?
A friend or family members pool, on their property?
Because I can't imagine a private member-only pool is allowing access.
Depends on the situation really.

Random452 · 09/05/2020 22:43

Depends on the situation = depends how I feel about it, I should clarify.

Savingshoes · 09/05/2020 22:48

Yes and more to the point, take me too! (Happy to sit on the roof of your car during the journey but may find you get pulled over for this).

Bawdrip · 09/05/2020 22:53

I've been windering the exact same thing. I keep seeing a FB ad for 2 hours use of a private pool that is a 24min drive from here. I'm very tempted. DH says wait til the big Sunday announcement first. If it was just up to me I'd book it and take 3DC tmrw.

Viviennemary · 09/05/2020 22:55

I think it could just about be justified. You are driving to a place to take exercise. And I'm sure I heard that is now allowed.

dementedpixie · 09/05/2020 22:55

I'm in Scotland so travelling to exercise is not a 'thing'

Bol87 · 09/05/2020 23:15

The virus cannot live in swimming pools @ZombieFan . The chemicals to keep them clean kill the virus. Hence why we use chlorine in pools, to kill germs!

TinRoofRusty · 09/05/2020 23:18

I'm in Scotland, too, never had a problem driving for exercise.

Bagelsandbrie · 09/05/2020 23:19

You’re allowed to drive for exercise. But - you’re not allowed to mix households. So if it’s someone else’s house then you can’t go.

FairlowWonder · 09/05/2020 23:23

Thank you! I’ll be off for a swim then! Maybe a little fannying around too Grin

The chlorine will kill the virus, don't listen to the pp who said it will be spread in the water Its not the water in the pool that's the danger, its the buildings, facilities and changing rooms associated with it. Government advice is to go outside to exercise, otherwise stay at home.

DaisylovesDonald · 09/05/2020 23:25

I am missing swimming soooo much! I would jump at the chance.

*also awaiting Donald Trump suggesting ingestion of chlorine as a possible cure shortly...

Mamimawr · 09/05/2020 23:27

Where do you live OP? You are not allowed to travel to excercise in Wales.

480Widdio · 09/05/2020 23:28

Yes go!

I am a daily swimmer normally, missing it so much.
