Anyone watching? I'm quite happy with this. A subtle change. I imagine England will stay the same.

Yes, Wales and England are the most closely linked out of the devolved nations. Simply because the systems like education are similar. People literally hop over the border to school, uni, work. We will be very closely linked to what they do and them us.

Sauron · 08/05/2020 12:50

I’ve not seen this. What is the jist of the Wales update please?

Parker231 · 08/05/2020 12:52

In Wales lockdown in place for another three weeks but can go out for exercise more than once a day but it must be local.

SleepingStandingUp · 08/05/2020 12:53

So every nation has revealed its plasma bar England. Has zboris got half a dozen plans and he's seeing how everyone else's are received before he picks one?

B1rdbra1n · 08/05/2020 12:57

This seems in line with the general view that transmission is less likely in outdoor areas

Itisasecret · 08/05/2020 12:58

Schools not opening in June.

Itisasecret · 08/05/2020 12:59

Garden centres, tips and libraries can open with SD.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 08/05/2020 13:03

I'm in Wales and so happy about being able to exercise more than once a day. Means I can take DS out for a run around but also head to my allotment in the evenings :)

The garden centre reopening would be amazing but might take them a while to get up and running so happy with the exercise rule for now.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 08/05/2020 13:07

That's his usual method of doing things SleepingStandingUp. Either that or no plan and he's waiting to see which one to recycle.

Mummypig2020 · 08/05/2020 13:10

Surely most people who haven’t followed rules have been doing this anyway? Exercising more than once a day? It’s Abit shit isn’t it. It doesn’t feel any different to what we are already doing.

grecianwomen · 08/05/2020 13:13

@Itisasecret Schools not opening in June

I didn't see this in the Wales online briefing - did he definitely say this?

ballsdeep · 08/05/2020 13:14

Rh only real thing that is changing is the recycling centres (yay!) and garden centres.

Itisasecret · 08/05/2020 13:15

@grecianwomen yes in the questions.

AlohaMolly · 08/05/2020 13:16

MummyPig the majority of my village have been following the rules to the letter, which given we live in a village full of climbers and triathletes, is pretty remarkable. For us, twice a day will make a real difference. Not having a dig, just really quite excited!

Mummypig2020 · 08/05/2020 13:20

It’s just abit crap isn’t it though. How can they expect people to carry on for much longer without any real explanation of what’s going to happen?

Can’t really expect people to not break the rules when the people who tell us not too, are breaking them!

TabbyMumz · 08/05/2020 13:20

Most people who go out have been doing it more than once a day anyway. A lot of people in Wales have been following the England rules of out more than once, for a long time, because they didnt realise they were different.

grecianwomen · 08/05/2020 13:21

I was really hoping the schools would re-open in June. Desperately worried about the impact of the closures on my child.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 08/05/2020 13:22

We have been following the rules and only going out once a day so this is a positive change for us :)

grecianwomen · 08/05/2020 13:22

I didn't realise they were different!

TabbyMumz · 08/05/2020 13:28

Grecianwoman.....a lot of people didnt. To be fair they werent that different, just in England you can drive to a walk and go for a few walks a day. In Wales, one exercise per day, and no driving to walks unless disabled or have a condition where dr recommends you do more.

Nb89 · 08/05/2020 13:29

Twice a day will be a real treat. Shame we can't travel.to do one lot but it's a slight improvement. I think they are trying their best with what we have.
The First Minister went on to explain that out R factor is at 0.8 This means they expect several hundred deaths over the next 3 weeks if it rises just a little to 1.1 we will have 7000 deaths in the next 3 weeks here in Wales. So I'm going to embrace the new changes and be thankful for them.
I can't wait to take my pile of clear out crap and gardening waste to the tip either.

Nb89 · 08/05/2020 13:32

On thenplus side, if you were exercising more than once a day here in wales because you dint realise try and see it as a bonus to the past 7?? Weeks rather than a disappointment if not much else Smile

You can always treat yourself to a trip.to the tip, garden centre or library now as well.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 08/05/2020 13:34

I assume we can't drive to exercise still? I can see the rules say not a significant distance but what about driving 10 minutes? Where we live there are no decent walks in walking distance but just 10 mins drive and we would have loads.

TabbyMumz · 08/05/2020 13:38

Just do the drive to a walk, it wont make a blind bit of difference to anyone if its remote.
