He couldn’t leave it much later in the week, could he?! Why so late?

OP posts:
Bigbouncingbaby · 07/05/2020 13:14

So no one goes out bank holiday I guess . People just want to know

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 07/05/2020 13:15

Why does it matter what time?

The ease in lockdown measures will NOT start until the Monday so It doesn’t matter what time he speaks Sunday

ifonly4 · 07/05/2020 13:18

Suits me, I'm at work all day, so can watch him while I'm eating my tea, I think I'd better have a glass of wine at the ready thoughGrin.

Deelish75 · 07/05/2020 13:45

If the changes aren't going to start until the following day at the earliest I don’t think it matters how late on the Sunday it is.

Tbh for me it’s right at the beginning of DD’s bedtime, preferred it when he did the 8.30 one so guess I’ll have to record it and watch it later.

Greenandcabbagelooking · 07/05/2020 13:48

So people don't think lockdown is easing as soon as he made the speech. If he made it tonight, everyone who is off for the Bank Hol would be out and about tomorrow, rather than waiting until Monday

JellyBelly78 · 07/05/2020 13:53

We’ll know before he gives his speech as they will have a cobra meeting before and as usual Nicola Sturgeon will tell us before Boris has a chance.

Lumene · 07/05/2020 14:19

It’s a shit time for anyone with young children.

TabbyMumz · 07/05/2020 15:13

It's not going to be anything too severe to start first thing Monday. People need a bit of a lead in.

AmyFl · 07/05/2020 15:14

I wonder whether they expect people to go back to work on Monday with only 12 hours notice?

TabbyMumz · 07/05/2020 15:18

Of course they wont. Businesses need time to work out how it will work.

RedRiverShore · 07/05/2020 15:19

It will probably be just stuff like exercising more than once or sitting on a bench when out which doesn't need any notice, workplaces would need more notice to open surely.

imsooverthisdrama · 07/05/2020 15:31

They can't expect people back to work that quickly the next day .
He annoyed me with the lockdown at 8pm on Monday night so no chance to prepare.
He should do it tonight but changes from Monday . That's makes me think the changes will be subtle.
I've been told my line manger as soon as they know something I'll know so no work until I'm told by my line manager.
What they going to do text everyone Sunday night . Hmm

imsooverthisdrama · 07/05/2020 15:35

Some people already go out to exercise more than once , I've done occasionally because I've run first thing then I've took dc out for exercise later .
In the last 2 days I've seen people fishing and sunbathing .
So if it's that to be relaxed it's no different then for a lot .

ivykaty44 · 07/05/2020 15:38

He’s stretching the 3 weeks lockdown to 4 and after the first bank holiday weekend of May. I would expect they will drag out any major changes until after the 2nd bank holiday.

RabbitsGoneRogue · 07/05/2020 15:40

I agree imsooverthis- what difference does “allowing” people to exercise more than once per day! He’s deluded if he thinks that anyone who wants to do this isn’t already!

MadeForThis · 07/05/2020 15:44

I think it's a pretty big indication that lockdown rules won't be changing much. Certainly nothing that effects working.

RainMustFall · 07/05/2020 16:05

Lumene
It’s a shit time for anyone with young children.

It's a shit time for everyone - young, old and middle aged.

Redolent · 07/05/2020 16:07

Presumably you’d be able to go out, sunbath

Redolent · 07/05/2020 16:08

Sunbathe and read a book in the park - Actions that would’ve had people frothing at the mouth a few weeks ago. So there is a change even if people have been unofficially flouting the rules.

twinnywinny14 · 07/05/2020 16:10

@RabbitsGoneRogue I want to exercise more than once but haven’t been. If the advice was to change then I would follow it, not everyone is just doing what they want!

GreyishDays · 07/05/2020 16:12

@RabbitsGoneRogue we’re only going out once but more would mean we can have a family walk and a dog walk. Would be much nicer, but we’re currently not.

DateandTime · 07/05/2020 16:18

Whatever restrictions are lifted it's highly unlikely to give us more freedom socially, it will be about slowly getting people back to work and none of it is going to be effective immediately. He can hardly tell companies at 7pm Sunday that they're reopening on Monday morning.

I'd quite like to be able to do a solo run and a walk with the family on the same day, there must be lots of people who'd like to exercise more than once a day and aren't Rabbits but I don't think that's going to change this weekend.

I think the overwhelming reaction will be "is that it?". I think it will be something like if things continue as we expect, these changes will come into effect in x days/weeks.

noego · 07/05/2020 16:30

He's revealing the PLAN for easing the lock down not easing the lockdown per se.

The media spin is beyond belief again, just listened to CNN and they're reporting Scotland is out of sync with the UK government, Absolute shit storm of spin and non stop. No wonder there is MH issues listening to this constant drivel from the media.

Businesses and schools need 3 weeks to get ready to begin trading/operating again.

So lockdown until 1st June and then ease the plan in.

Disclaimer....possibly

TJH130 · 07/05/2020 16:36

@DateandTime you can do that now if you are in England. Re. Walk and Run there’s no legal limit on the amount of times you can go out for exercise - just suggestions.

nex18 · 07/05/2020 16:38

Is so that everyone hears it with a glass in their hand and is too pissed to care?
