He couldn’t leave it much later in the week, could he?! Why so late?

I know TJH but they did say you can go only out more than once if you have a "reasonable excuse", such as a health reason to do so. I don't know how you'd define that and I don't have any health reasons that would be more pressing than anyone else's

*It's a shit time for those with young children
*
It was always going to be an inconvenient time for some of us wasn't it? I'm just going to do bedtime a bit earlier on Sunday, not any real hardship.

It makes sense he wouldn't announce it before a bank holiday but given the amount of social distancing VE Day parties I've seen advertised on social media, I think the majority of joe public are slowly losing the will with lockdown, which the govt to their credit did predict.

Most businesses should be preparing, but may still need time to make their final preparations for employees. Also, they will have to take into consideration what's officially required to make the place safe, distancing, numbers, hygiene, someone on door etc. I did read somewhere that most businesses will required three weeks notice, but it might be that some can get up and running before that.

TJH130 · 07/05/2020 16:47

@DateandTime you don’t need to define that as it isn’t enforceable

Don’t worry about what the curtain twitchers across the road think ❤️

DateandTime · 07/05/2020 16:47

Just a hunch but I reckon there'll be multiple ways to see it later if the timing is inconvenient. I really don't think there's going to be anything so groundbreaking we all need to see it live.

DateandTime · 07/05/2020 16:48

It's not about the curtain twitchers, it's about pulling together to protect the NHS, remember?

TheCountessatHotelCortez · 07/05/2020 16:50

Nothing changing in Scotland for another 3 weeks

Itisasecret · 07/05/2020 16:50

Wales have announced no changes to schools June 1, I would expect that in England too as their systems are closely linked. Lots of backpedaling going on in MSM.

TabbyMumz · 07/05/2020 17:36

Yes, I suspect schools in England and Wales will sync again...as there will be teachers who live in Wales, but teach in England and vice versa. We cant have people living in Wales not being able to ho to work because their kids cant go to school.

Itisasecret · 07/05/2020 17:37

Yes exactly and they are the most interchangeable out of the devolved nations, similar term times and people literally do work across the border.

Maxandezra · 07/05/2020 18:02

so , we locked down on a Monday...they said reviews every 3 weeks. Then delayed the first review till a Thursday (yes I know, to do with when the laws cam in but still) now here we are 3 weeks on and once again no proper review and delayed till Sunday. They must think we're all bloody stupid.
Well sod them. From now on I will make my own decisions and risk assessments.

twinnywinny14 · 07/05/2020 18:26

@Maxandezra so because you’re not getting answer you want when you want them you are suddenly qualified and have access to all the information action to make your own risk assessment? Really?Hmm

Parker231 · 07/05/2020 18:30

If he’s only announcing the ‘plan’, little or nothing is going to change straightaway.

imsooverthisdrama · 07/05/2020 18:47

I think most are ignoring now and if extends it on Sunday most will ignore .
I've followed it but just recently the odd day 2 lots of exercise with my dc but now I'm fed up . I don't think it's fair to say will review in 3 weeks then it's a few days later . Like someone else said he's done that twice now so to extend 3 weeks till end of May will just go no .
The beginning most stayed in now it's back to normal.
It was argued that lockdown was to stop the nhs from not being able to cope and that's done .
I'd be interested to see how the people of Scotland react to another 3 weeks .
Will they change things if Boris does ?

Itisasecret · 07/05/2020 18:49

Boris won’t be changing anything, he totally over egged it when he panicked in PMQ’s and he allowed the press to do it too.

heroku · 07/05/2020 18:55

I'm convinced we're all going to be thoroughly disappointed as it'll be the boring stuff that comes first. "Congratulations UK you can now get an MOT and go to the dentist."

Maxandezra · 07/05/2020 19:18

twinny its not about getting an answer I want. I fundementally now have absolutely no faith in the government. I dont trust their judgement. At all. I do not believe they are making the best decisions based on good science. The NHS has been totally decimated by their management of this despite what they would have you believe. The long term inplications for people's mental and non covid physical health is massive. They have failed to be transparrent from the start - proabably because they are making it up as they go along.
So yes I will read the science, the articles, the research etc as I have been doing and I will make my own judgements.(I am also actually a doctor working in the NHS) I will not act in any way that I believe would put anyone at any risk but I will be in charge of those decisions not a bunch of morons who think we will put up indefinitely with their incompetence.
