I'll start. Whilst self isolating, someone else shopped for me, in local tesco express. £4.35 for a pack of 2 kitchen roll. Jesus feckin wept.

Then I went to small local shop, was trying to avoid a bigger supermarket.... Paid £3.45 for one pack of andrex wet loo wipes that didn't have the price on them and I needed them.

I'm going to be bankrupt at this state. I'm a very frugal shopper and I don't ever let myself get done. But because of one thing and another I'm avoiding the supermarkets and trying to make things last and only going to local shops seldomly.

Hellish.

@Mustbetimeforachange

I found a huge 720g of Hilltop Honey in B&M recently, for £2.00, which is not bad, in case you have one near you.

Thank you, good to know although we are shielding

I went to a farm shop during the panic buying phase and pair an extortionate amount for some very sad looking vegetables and mouldy strawberries. Desperate times.

It's just cost me £3.49 to buy window and glass cleaner on Ocado for DM

If the price bothers you, don't buy it. Most of these examples could have waited. No-one needs glass cleaner so desperately right now use something else or just don't bother cleaning your windows. If they've been done recently, they can wait, and if they haven't, now's not really a good time to suddenly start caring about window cleanliness.

If the only thing in the shop was a £15 chicken or £4 kitchen roll I'd just serve a different meal and have undabbed bacon.

I was absolutely rolling at the 'price of your weekly shop' thread yesterday.

Hundred and HUNDREDS a week! :0 my god I mean...power to you, but I don't even know what I'd buy for £200 a week lol

TSSDNCOP of course it does.
There are lots if instances where kitchen towels won’t do unless you want permanently super stained towels or for hygiene reasons.

I paid £18 for a box with 100 disposable gloves (single or pairs, no idea) from Amazon. They were the only ones with Prime delivery, everything else was coming from China judging by estimated delivery dates.

Lurleene · 02/05/2020 23:27

Prior to the lockdown I didn't do a weekly shop I just popped into the supermarket a few times a week on my way home from work.
Since lockdown I have just been going to Aldi every Friday and my bill has always come to £70 something. Yesterday I had to run an errand in the other direction so did my shop in Sainsburys instead. My bill came to £117 for a very similar shop. Now I guess I knew Aldi was cheaper but I've never really done a like for like comparison. I'll be back at Aldi next Friday.

£9.99 for a kg of mince from our farm shop, there was none to be had anywhere. That is their normal price though, it made the best lasagne and cottage pie ever but I wouldn't pay that price again.

FlamingoAndJohn · 03/05/2020 08:18

Kitchen roll just breaks down no? Like thicker loo roll.

No. Not at all! Have you not seen the adds where you can ring it out?

BikeRunSki · 03/05/2020 09:22

At peak panic time, I couldn’t find any rice. We eat a lot of rice, and I usually buy it in 5kg bags for about £10 from Tesco or Asian supermarkets. Couldn’t get any rice, in any size bag, anywhere. Looked on Amazon, there was a CF selling a bag 5kg bag of rice for £49!

I just paid six pounds for a diy item I could buy for around three in Wilkinson but there were about forty plus people trying to get into wilkos yesterday

GingerBeverage · 03/05/2020 09:47

The local Budgens charged me £2.10 for 4 medium carrots 2 weeks ago.

MamaGothel · 03/05/2020 09:56

I've paid £6 for a Tesco delivery today. That's not even an item, just delivery. Prior to all this, I only got a shop if it was about £1-2 and mostly shopped in Aldi but I'm trying to be very careful before my c section in a couple of weeks so I paid it. Broke my frugal heart.

BarbaraofSeville · 03/05/2020 10:01

I think this is where the queues are now. Went to a retail park a few days ago. Massive queue outside The Range and B&M, no queue at all outside Farm Foods and small queue for Lidl, so people must be looking more for household and gardening items.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 03/05/2020 10:05

£25 for an 'essentials' box from a local shop. It was fruit and veg, plus milk, bread and butter. Worth £15 tops, so wouldn't buy it again.
People who use tea towels for bacon fat are the reason there are fatbergs in the drains.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 03/05/2020 10:06

Also my £8 Morrisons delivery pass but can't get a slot!

couchlover · 03/05/2020 10:54

Not had many problems. First week of lockdown I had done a click and collect at morrisons. They substituted morrisons own brand dishwasher tablets which I think are £3 for 40 or something for ecover ones at £5 for 25. We couldn't refuse a substitution at collection and the guy bringing it out said we had to go inside for a refund... kind of defeated the object of doing a click and collect really!
