What do you miss doing?

This has probably been done before. What do you miss doing most since lockdown began? For me it's a couple of simple things. I live walking distance from a great little cinema and we'd walk round there pretty much every week and see a film. We also live about a 15 minute drive for a gorgeous beach popular with surfers. I miss going there at dusk, watching the surfers, getting fish and chips and eating them on the beach. Bliss!

@redyellowpink - wasn't it just?! My friend has treated herself to a coffee machine from home and says the Costa coffee beans and Alpro professional coconut milk is exactly the same. My non coffee drinking DH is not to bee persuaded that it's a good investment!! I'm just hoping the drive thru will open soon!

Having something to look forward to.

I miss being in the house by myself.

stuckindoors77 · 01/05/2020 14:28

Three things:

We used to have regular family gatherings, I'd stay overnight at my sister's and spend the evening chatting over a glass of red wine.

When I drop my ds at his dad's he'd make me a cuppa and we'd spend an hour discussing ds and generally setting the world to rights.

Popping to the shops quickly because I needed one thing.

Fishing! Being able to spend a night on the beach fishing, especially with a full moon due on 7th May when big tides usually mean a good deal of fish activity and a productive session🎣

I miss the gym, which was my 2nd home. And being able to have private conversations with someone outside the household.

IvySquirrel · 01/05/2020 15:04

Work
Going to the theatre
Buying a nice coffee
The gym
Family birthday get togethers
Going to church
Watching DS play football! Not one I thought I'd miss!

Popcat120 · 01/05/2020 15:06

Being able to just pop to my mums and my grandma's whenever I wanted!
They live 5 /10 min drive away, so hard not seeing them!

Otherwise I don't miss much at all...
Obviously it's nice to get away to the beach, soft play, farm with little one, but were coping without.

Deelish75 · 01/05/2020 15:07

Going for my weekly swim.
Having a mooch around the shops and going for cake and a cup of tea on a Saturday afternoon.
DC are missing school and their friend. On a nice afternoon a few of us will stop by the park on the way home, parents would be stood having a chat as the children played.

I'm not missing the morning rush, sorting uniforms and packed lunches.

People can opt out of socialising at any time but sometimes it's forced into us isn't it?
People pressure. Maybe now that's not there some folk feel a bit happier ? Schools have can be quite officious with rules and regs so maybe a few people just like that they have control over their child's education? I wouldn't have liked home schooling but we're all different.
I'm not coming across that well but for some this is a situation they can deal with. Many don't like family much or don't get on so this gives them a ' get out ' clause? I bet a few are happier with this than they like to admit.

I'm not mega close to my own family so I can deal with it , but that's just me! I miss my dad though , so there's always a trade off!

PutThemInTheIronMaiden · 01/05/2020 16:00

Seeing my parents in person. But that's it.

Spodge · 01/05/2020 16:09

The gym
Eating out
All the daily casual interactions I used to have with friends/acquaintances/shop assistants/whoever.

Wanderlust21 · 01/05/2020 16:24

My days actually haven't changed much at all.

I miss being able to take a trip into the city for clothes shopping. But I might not have done that in this time anyway.

This whole thing has really made me realise what a hermit I am. Everyone freaking out about being on their own and it's actually just totally normal to me. Its like, 'should this be difficult?'.

Think I'll have to pull the finger out when things return to normal or I will end up a lonely old maid xD

emmathedilemma · 01/05/2020 16:26

the gym, travel, running club, just being able to go where ever you want when you want, places beyond the local area, never thought i'd say it but starting to miss the office too!
