Whilst obviously delighted that mother and baby are doing well I fear the distraction on our PM when he should be 1000% on top of this crisis.

If a thread had been posted on here about an irresponsible father, who had messed up a project at work leading to thousands of deaths, somehow being immune to criticism because he'd had another child with another women Mumsnet would be screaming for the Op to LTB. But because Boris is PM he gets a pass? Like fuck.

The80sweregreat · 29/04/2020 10:53

Yes he was irresponsible but he got away with it and now we are where we are!
Just put a new one in charge and let him go quietly. We need someone to take this on with no distractions!

Sparklingbrook · 29/04/2020 10:54

Yes because that would really happen wouldn’t it @Kortnee?

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 29/04/2020 10:57

What a disingenuous thread to start. Just to have a pop.

Exactly this, you horrible lot. A woman has had a baby, end of. Imagine if you were in her position

onalongsabbatical · 29/04/2020 10:59

It is possible to wish Carrie and the baby well, acknowledge that Boris has been ill, and think that he's a poor PM and this is likely to further undermine his effectiveness and that the power vacuum needs to be tackled for the good of the country, all in the same brain.

Sparklingbrook · 29/04/2020 11:00

Nobody cares about anything other than putting the boot in any more.

Kortnee · 29/04/2020 11:03

@Sparklingbrook "putting the boot in" Yeah let's not hold our PM to account for their catastrophic handling of a situation which has cost upwards of 20k deaths. He just had a baby!

vera99 · 29/04/2020 11:03

@onalongsabbatical well said. No one wishes Carrie and the baby anything other than the best of health.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 29/04/2020 11:05

Yes he has just had a baby, hence this thread. Confused

Kortnee · 29/04/2020 11:08

It's in the Coronavirus topic. Hence the mention of the handling of the crisis. Should we all be gushing sycophantic congratulations to the man instead?

LastTrainEast · 29/04/2020 11:09

Kortnee putting aside your politics to congratulate someone on having a baby is in fact what normal people do.

heathspeedwell · 29/04/2020 11:10

My heart goes out to all his other children, at least one of whom he wont admit to having fathered.

He barely spends any time with them as it is, they are bound to feel sad that they will see even less of him now.

Despite all the horrible things he has said about single mothers, Boris has made at three so far.

Itisasecret · 29/04/2020 11:12

Gosh some people on here are awful and totally swayed by propaganda. The irony of people calling people awful whilst being horrible themselves.

It’s wonderful news. Everyone wishes them well.

You cannot escape the fact we have the 2nd highest number of deaths behind the USA. You cannot escape the fact we have a huge national crisis, which will become apparent today when care homes deaths are released alongside the daily deaths in hospitals.

We are in the biggest crisis since the war. People are dying, losing their jobs, worried about food and their homes. We need a leader.

Yes he was ill and it’s great news he’s better. The country has still been without leadership for nearly a month. If his mind is not on the job or he takes paternity leave, then he should do the right thing and stand down. The country needs leadership right now and that’s just the reality. Not to mention. I doubt any critical workers to the COVID response will be taking leave of any sort any time soon, hopefully he follows suit and sets an example and you know ‘leads the country’.

Celerysam · 29/04/2020 11:12

You are aware that politicians are human too? He's just had his baby come into the world. I would expect him to spend some time with it.

PicsInRed · 29/04/2020 11:13

I don't agree with his personal life but I certainly wouldn't wish ill health on a baby or the loss of a child on its parents - for that reason I hope and wish for them that all is well.

In addition to that are the obvious political implications which will directly impact 10s of millions in this country and also abroad (nations recipient to our foreign aid for example). This issue is so much larger than the birth of one (hopefully well) child.

CendrillonSings · 29/04/2020 11:14

I'm not a Boris fan but he hardly asked for his baby to be born prematurely did he? How fucking horrid some posters are

Bloody well said! Spite and bitterness has driven them insane.

Kortnee · 29/04/2020 11:14

If a member of my family died due to negligence at work would I be expected to congratulate the boss on his new baby? I wouldn't be able to. Maybe I'm just not as evolved as you but the only emotions I'm feeling are grief and anger that everybody is fawning over this bumbling idiot.

MaxNormal · 29/04/2020 11:15

So more time off then Hmm

And the rest of them seem to not be allowed to make decisions in his absence either so we'll be in pain-free lockdown listening to daily three word soundbites till sodding October at this rate.

Didkdt · 29/04/2020 11:15

Boris is not a hands on modern dad type. I suspect Carrie knew that and I'm sure she had a support network built up in anticipation. I feel for her.

It is far too soon to say why our figures are so high, or how accurate the recordings of other countries are but throwing rotten tomatoes does help people feel better I'm sure

MaxNormal · 29/04/2020 11:16

late someone on having a baby is in fact what normal people do.

There's seven billion of us, congratulations for what? Helping fuck up the planet some more?

Irishgurl · 29/04/2020 11:20

Maybe they will call him Tom after Major Tom?
Hopefully the little one has an equally long and admirable life.
Welcome to the world little boy.

Lumene · 29/04/2020 11:21

You are aware that politicians are human too? He's just had his baby come into the world. I would expect him to spend some time with it.

Which he is more than entitled to do.

He is also ultimately responsible for ensuring we protect every other newborn baby and other citizen we can from an unprecedented and deadly epidemic however.

So if he is adding to his month of leave during the crisis, we need a clear leader in charge while he’s not, and to know when Boris will be ‘back’.

CendrillonSings · 29/04/2020 11:25

There's seven billion of us, congratulations for what? Helping fuck up the planet some more?

That’s a pretty chilling anti-human attitude. You do know that you’re one of those seven billion people, right? I don’t imagine you consider your own lofty presence to be a burden on the planet.

And if humans are such a curse, why get so het up about the coronavirus? From that bonkers perspective, the more damage it does the better for the planet, right? Don’t be ridiculous.

MaxNormal · 29/04/2020 11:30

CendrillonSings Hi Tory-bot. So you think the planet is doing well with seven billion people on it, and more arriving every day? It's a rather more chilling anti-human attitude to suggest that people keep breeding till we've literally killed the only home we've got. I've done my bit by not contributing further humans. Johnson on the other hand has undone all my good work and then some. How many is this baby now, is it six or seven? I don't think anyone's quite sure are they?

Whatnametomorrow10 · 29/04/2020 11:30

Reading this anyone would think he single handily released the virus....

I’m not a Boris fan & I think things should have been handled far better! But he caught the virus and has been very ill (in fact he did try to put the job first and probably made him even more ill) & now by the looks of it his baby has been born early. Just maybe he will put his partner first as I can imagine this is her first child and is probably very worried!

I think there has been massive failings around private care homes PPE - but I think there has always long been a question on how they are run. And approach to lockdown - I’ve seen the people ignoring it and carrying on - we can’t blame Boris for others people selfish stupidity- deeper lockdown the stupid are still stupid and would have carried on regardless.
As a mother of young children I want there to be a country for my children to grow up and be safe - I worry now for my 17 year old her future job choices and the life she may end up with - & the freedom she has lost during this lockdown :(
