Watching today's update and the cars usage graph shows that people are starting to drive for non-essential journeys again.

WHY?

Why can't people just stay at home?! Stop driving around! I see people shopping twice a week or more, regularly. WHY?!

Sop sticking your nose into other people’s circumstances of which you have zero idea.

Tjsmumma · 24/04/2020 20:23

No, you sound like the entitled prick here. God, everyone has the SAME idea, i cant find frozen onions or scratch bases ANY where, in any shop. What, ars we all suppose to starve because you think we shouldn't be shopping when they are telling us we can? Goodness me. How selfish can you get. People are following guidance.

MilkRunningOutAgain · 24/04/2020 20:25

Well I went to Sainsbury’s today because the delivery I got this morning had too many missing things, so I needed to top it up. Then I drove my son to work. Later I’ll pick him up. I went for a walk with my DD. My DH is still commuting into London 3 days a week, he’ll be home soon. It’s quite a few trips but they are essential.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 24/04/2020 20:28

I shop twice a week because I don't have a car and can only carry 2 bags of shopping at once. Mind your own bloody business.

I go out to work (frontline) 4 days a week.

When I go to the supermarket on my days off I have to do two shops minimum using a shopping trolley which involves a half an hour walk home. I cannot feed a family of 5 on what I can carry in one shop. We have no car. I also have to take supplies to my dad who is vulnerable and isolating. I would much rather do an online shop and not go out, but can't get one.

I also go out to take the kids out for exercise and that is not even every day as I am too shattered.

You might look out of your window and think I am going out too much, but if you don't know me then you wouldn't know why.

Greenmarmalade · 24/04/2020 20:33

@Kortnee that’s awful. I’m actually worried about this happening with my dd. I want to take her to a quiet place to walk, but don’t want to risk being yelled at, as she wouldn’t want to leave the house again.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. People should mind their own business.

Frompcat · 24/04/2020 20:37

We're allowed out.

HTH.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 24/04/2020 20:44

Perhaps they go twice a week as they do not drive and cannot get to a huge supermarket for a huge shop .

You are right re the amount of cars suddenly on the road though .

SoftSheen · 24/04/2020 20:48

Going shopping twice a week isn't unreasonable, it's normal, and for many people, necessary.

creaturcomforts · 24/04/2020 20:51

3 times a week, to work as a carer. Once a fortnight for food as I'm freezing milk and bread and once a week to take my 13 yr old out for excercise as she would go mad if not. However if you were watching me and didn't know the full picture you'd think I was flouting the rules....

Cantata · 24/04/2020 20:51

I go food shopping every day. It's essential for me.

MadameTuffington · 24/04/2020 20:51

I don’t drive and I’m a single parent with a relatively small fridge. Lidl is a 5 minute walk from my house - I go about 3 times per week (although not at the moment as I have suspected Covid) - I also work 12-hr shifts so tend to go shopping on my days off.

Sorry but fuck tinned produce - great if you feel it’s adequate but I believe in eating fresh produce and feeding my kids proper food. When I was well, my daughters and I go out for a daily walk.

This has been even more important because I have been doing long hours with Covid positive residents in a carehome with minimal PPE (that has just been reevaluated following possible staff infections) and am therefore at risk.

Bottom line is people need to feed themselves well and stay physically active. As I type this comment my neighbours are having a cocaine jolly in their garden with assorted mates - this, driving miles for a walk and lingering in public spaces is what you should be getting your knickers in a twist about.

fartingsparkles · 24/04/2020 20:53

Don't think we need to worry about developing a tracking app. Just get the OP to do it

CurtainWitcher · 24/04/2020 20:55

Cantata, why is it essential that you do food shopping every day?!

OP posts:
Tjsmumma · 24/04/2020 20:57

@CurtainWitcher why on earth is it any of your problem why people go shopping every day? As long as people folllw social distancing, why is it anything to do witb you?!

TheGreatWave · 24/04/2020 20:58

I believe in eating fresh produce and feeding my kids proper food

If talking about tinned fruit/ veg then it is proper food, not quite sure what else it would be. Rule it out on taste fair enough, but not that you think it isn't proper.

BenjiB · 24/04/2020 20:58

FFS what difference does it make if you go out 2, 3 even 4 times a week for shopping as long as you follow social distancing guidelines. Ni really despise busybodies poking their noses in. Really going out 3 times is no more risky than going out once.

I go out 3 maybe 4 times a week to shop! I have my reasons why, others may have good reason too. Wind your flipping neck in OP !

SuckingDieselFella · 24/04/2020 20:59

"Sorry but fuck tinned produce".

This is why we are all doomed. Because of you and the other one who has to go out every three days for "veggies".

CurtainWitcher · 24/04/2020 21:00

This is everyone's business, while nearly 20,000 people have died in hospital!

Social distancing includes staying at home and only leaving the house for exercise once a day and buying essentials - not a little extra trip to the shops because Tesco didn't have the right sort of margarine yesterday. Everyone should be leaving their homes as infrequently as possible. But, you know that. Just can't be arsed.

OP posts:
creaturcomforts · 24/04/2020 21:02

It's too much to go out shopping if not essential, with the queues, people watching your every move and around here police presence as well as the worry about catching covid 19 that people are in general worried about the pandemic and staying inside! At work it's literally people just travelling to work and back so I don't think you need to worry op.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 24/04/2020 21:03

You know some people are allowed to exercise several times a day?Grin
Imagine that!

Frompcat · 24/04/2020 21:03

This is why we are all doomed.

Well we aren't though, are we Hmm

user1471441839 · 24/04/2020 21:03

I've just read the full thread all at once. OP you must see from the posters that replied to you that the there are many reasons for other people going out even though you may not have to. You sound really angry with others that are living within the guidelines. It don't do your mental health any good.

SpratsOnParade · 24/04/2020 21:03

I'm not convinced that your nose should be out and about so much in other people's business either.seems it's clocked up more miles than most of the shoppers you're complaining about.
