Are people seriously moaning about this? Are we turning on the nurses now?

My DC’s physio called from her home and talked through exercises and suggestions.

I am happy with the way they have kept care and communication going, despite being one of the major centres for COVID ICU cases.

It is such a postcode lottery.

Angry Sad

Stellamboscha · 23/04/2020 11:54

It doesnt bother me, but as a non-nhs key worker, my bosses would be pissed off if i spent work time dancing and videoing.
Indeed -very unprofessional.

lamplamplamp · 23/04/2020 12:03

bloody hell, people believe this? Hospitals are empty because non-covid medicine has stopped & infections peaked before lockdown.

Surely if no lockdown then it would have kept growing exponentially so that would not have been peak. That doesn't make sense to me.

MLMsuperfan · 23/04/2020 12:07

I actually think it shows greater respect to people doing a difficult and important job if you don't call them angels, heroes and so on.

They're not angels and heroes, they're people doing a difficult and important job.

Aposterhasnoname · 23/04/2020 12:12

The dancing may only have taken a few minutes to film, but how long did it take these overworked and exhausted health workers to choreograph, learn and practice it?

The staff at my local supermarket were doing this in one of the aisles the other day. Just beckoned me down when I stopped at the end to wait for them to move, zero attempts to stay 2m away from either me or each other.

Rosehip10 · 23/04/2020 12:16

Many trust are starting to send guidance to staff about this - reminding about trust social media policies etc.

Snufkins · 23/04/2020 12:39

Myself and OH are both nurses - he’s on a ward with Covid patients and frequently runs out of PPE so I would be outraged if the Trust ended up doing a dancing video as it definitely wouldn’t be on an infectious ward where they’re rushed off their feet and desperate for equipment.

Having dedicated shopping at the supermarket is nice - I find the clapping and adoration tacky and unnecessary given how quiet things are at the moment for a lot of us.

Outpatients are only doing ‘clinically urgent’ clinics such as fracture and gynae. The day unit where cancer patients go for transfusions is closed but probably because they all sit together in one waiting room. Quieter areas of outpatients or wards with side rooms could easily accommodate patients, even one an hour is better than none?

If I was on one of those wards I would feel extremely fucked off.

If I want a show, I'll pay for a show.

Don't shove a dancing line up down my throat when I'm hospitalised.

Fuck right off.

Rafflesway · 23/04/2020 15:14

Glad it’s not just me!

I think it is so disrespectful. Who the hell finds these childish TikTok videos entertaining or interesting anyway?

So, so concerned for all the cancer patients at present. ☹️

buckeejit · 23/04/2020 15:44

@Gruffawoah This is the Belfast respiratory team. Think it's very powerful locally in NI as people may know them or a couple degrees of separation & down the road-they will be looking after us if we get very sick. Also clearly spaced out & sombre

pocketem · 23/04/2020 15:56

Looks like that video's been pulled already @buckeejit

TheFredericaQuartet · 23/04/2020 16:06

@LetTheCabbagesDie - I've reported your post with that link as it could be "triggering" for many women.

DeRigueurMortis · 23/04/2020 16:19

The Belfast video is brilliant.

It strikes the right tone and sends an important message.

It's not videos like this people are critical of - it's the silly dance routines.

Dandyish · 23/04/2020 16:20

Yes exactly.

The Belfast video is providing healthcare advice. It’s professional.

Dandyish · 23/04/2020 16:24

Nurses or any HCP doing the TikTok Blinding Lights dance challenges at work are not providing healthcare advice, unless I’m missing the subliminal message that one’s covid symptoms will be improved by doing some dabbing.

vera99 · 23/04/2020 16:40

I'm removing the saucepan banging tonight as a protest but will continue with the hand-clapping for the non-dancing staff. I hope that's clear. Hopefully, they didn't get to hoover up any of the surplus easter eggs either. Wink

Didkdt · 23/04/2020 16:53

@LetTheCabbagesDie the video isn't just distasteful at best it puts women off smears at worst it traumatized them.
I think you should probably have been more descriptive when posting it

Bornlazy · 23/04/2020 17:25

Someone has posted The Daily Mail story to our staff Facebook page so hopefully people will start to tone it down.

Whaddyathinkofthis · 23/04/2020 17:41

🤣😂🤣 😂🤣😂

ichifanny · 23/04/2020 17:47

I work in a Covid ICU unit and it is like a warzone it’s awful and one of the most draining things I’ve ever experienced I’m totally fucked off by these videos to be honest I knew it would turn the public against us , looks so unprofessional . It’s so important we decompress but I’m sure we can do that without making people think we have loads of time to choreograph dances .

Pomegranatepompom · 23/04/2020 18:03

I think it’s unprofessional and detracts from the care that is happening.

I’ve posted several times that cancer care is happening in my trust, it feels a bit that people only want to hear negative stuff about the nhs now.

DeRigueurMortis · 23/04/2020 18:08

ich.

I think most people hopefully realise that these videos aren't representative of people like yourself (and my friends - Drs on Covid wards) who are absolutely working flat out under very difficult circumstances.

They like you (as I posted up thread) are utterly pissed off with these videos - they think they give the wrong impression, are unprofessional and signify a degree of "levity" that's totally absent from the conditions they are working in. They are their colleagues are exhausted physically and mentally after a shift and the idea of having the energy to learn a silly dance is just ridiculous.

Thanksand thanks for all your efforts

Bubblebu · 23/04/2020 18:15

I’m a cancer patient with no current treatment.
So far as I can see the oncology team I was being treated by is not helping in covid19 icu wards but are doing ticktock routines in the carpark.
