What (hopefully) minor things should/would you be seeing your GP for if you could, but aren't due to CV?

I have a nagging on and off abdominal pain on the right. Too high to be my appendix. Potentially my gallbladder.
I had an appointment booked after putting up with it for weeks and weeks waiting for it to go away. That got cancelled automatically before the lockdown and as it's not an emergency, I'm clearly not pursuing an appointment. But it's a (tiny) nagging worry for me that it might be something that needs looking into.

If I can discuss complex end of life care options over a Whatsapp video call with patients, your GP can definitely discuss contraception options with you.

They are likely desperate to do so and talk about something that isn't COVID.

I was so happy the first day I got to do my real job instead of COVID or mooching around the office begging for something to do.

I need blood tests done but don’t know whether to go and do them or not. It’s to confirm (or not) B12 deficiency.

MummingAlong · 23/04/2020 20:29

Please call your GP! They will be happy to help I promise. Abdo pain, lumps, mole changes, weight loss all need seeing. Lots can be seen via tel calls or video calling or sending photos too.

I have had a 'growth' (for want of a better word) on my back but today I phoned up about it and am having a call back in morning. Sent a picture to the surgery. Has changed shape and is more raised

I had a filling fall out. So I need dentist not GP.
Not urgent, but would get bad if left too long. :(

PipGirl404 · 23/04/2020 21:15

I've tried calling my GP's and they just sound irritated and dish out shit advice.

I've had headaches every day for weeks, I've started bleeding in between my periods, I'm constantly knackered and I'm cold sweating buckets at night.

Considering cutting a finger off for some attention Grin

BlackeyedSusan · 23/04/2020 21:16

pip, a toe might be more expedable...

BlackeyedSusan · 23/04/2020 21:17

fucking spellings...

Our nearest dental hospital is still seeing emergencies. Also, our dentist emailed to say they can still see patients/give advice but are limited on treatment. Worth a try?

I had compartment syndrome in my leg about 18 months ago and recently it's started hurting again on and off and one of the veins in my ankle has changed appearance. Am thinking maybe I should mention it to someone when this is all over to see if it's normal or not!

MinesaBottle · 23/04/2020 21:45

Got a letter three weeks ago reminding me I’m due a smear. It must have been sent out automatically somehow Grin Hopefully lockdown will be lifted a bit soon so I can book one. I had a LLETZ four years ago so I’m a bit worried I might have dodgy cells again.

MeadowHay · 23/04/2020 21:55

Nothing, unfortunately me and DD have GP appointments fairly regularly. I've had one since lockdown and that was a telephone appt although I've had quite a few telephone appts anyway over the last few years at the different practices I've been at, so that's not new. My lockdown Tel appt lasted less than 5 mins I think and was not urgent really, although it was severely uncomfortable for me - really bad scalp irritation as a side effect of a medication im taking. GP suggested a product and prescribed it and was v clear that he was glad I called and didn't suffer in silence and that if it didn't work (which it has!) that I should call back and he would prescribe something else.

I need a repeat blood test to check my thyroid, b12 and iron.

Haven't had a period for 6 months. I'm 26 and defo not pregnant, they just stopped 🤷🏻‍♀️

Need to get my daughters hand seen to - I'm going to call in the morning about all of the above!

Hoggleludo · 24/04/2020 10:51

I had a kidney infection. Which sadly required hospitalisation. Just right at the beginning of lockdown. I live in a major city. Had the best diversion system.
I then suffer from a weird right sided pain. Which my dr has given me more painkillers to try and get me through this. But need to see my neurologist pretty quick. Losing my vision. So trying to get an opticians app. It's all happened during lockdown!

Hoggleludo · 24/04/2020 10:53

Pain in my head. Right sided. With loss of vision.

See. Can't even see to text right!

squashyhat · 24/04/2020 11:01

God you are all mad! Ring the surgery! They can only say no but unless you ask you won't know. My GP surgery is very much open for business - fewer face-to-face consultations but telephone and e-consultations all in place and they are still doing even routine blood tests with appropriate PPE. It has never been easier to get an appointment. Do it now or when lockdown is lifted you won't stand a chance.

GP looked at pictures. Thinks is is a benign mole that has swollen due to trauma...near where bra strap is so could be a factor. Sending pictures to the hospital for someone to look at but she doesn't think it is anything to worry about. Steroid cream to reduce swelling for a week. Asked me about my history with the sun and my general health.
So glad I phoned yesterday. Peace of mind.

Sorry for posting it twice!

I’m a t1 diabetic on a pump. Ive been not changing the pump set as often as I should to try and lengthen the time I can go until I need more supplies in case the supply chain is affected and now I’ve got an abcess.

FraterculaArctica · 24/04/2020 16:17

I've got a sore wrist that started suddenly before Christmas when I slept on it in a funny way and is gradually getting worse and worse. Although I know the GP may not be that busy, I don't want to ask for a telephone appointment in case they say it needs looking at in person, and I'd have to expose myself to CV by doing so.

BirdieFriendReturns · 24/04/2020 16:36

Abnormal bleeding, maybe a miscarriage. Oh well!

rubydoobydoo · 24/04/2020 16:45

Restless legs that have been getting worse and waking me up several times a night!
I thought it was due to me taking sertraline but I stopped those a couple of months ago and nothing has changed - I'd normally go to the GP by now to see of they can help. Currently trying magnesium supplements but still suffering more nights than not, any other suggestions gratefully received!

LolaLollypop · 24/04/2020 16:52

I went to the GP for my LO's 8 week jabs and it was empty. The GP said they only see 1-2 patients a day as everyone is staying away. Please go and get seen! Especially the PP with unexplained bleeding and night sweats etc. Those are NOT symptoms you want hanging around for any period of time undiagnosed.

Redcrayons · 24/04/2020 17:28

Smear.

I don’t need much of an excuse to put it off tbh.
